A girl in my class told me today that www.fetchbook.info has the cheapest of college books of all. I haven't checked it out. You might try! :)

As I always say, try library and interloan library at ur university.
OR
Dealoz.com for prices for books and get the cheapest one. I have been here for two years in US and never bought a book and always used from library and sometimes took a loan from interloan library. Seriously I had never spend money on school and now finally graduated.
Hope it helps. But make sure u talk with ur librarian before buying txtbook.
Hope it helps my friend. :)

@ thin beast: Is there any way I can know what's ur university name? I can help you finding there somewhere in library website.
Basically its like a renting a book but free of cost( whatsoever they have already charged u as a library fee). But why don u take advantage from it as it a mandatory fee for every student? Just send me university website, I will help u find that. Or email me.

interlibrary loan is borrowing a book/written material from other libraries through your library. go to your university's library website and look for it. like samikshya said, borrow books from library if you can't afford to buy them. i've done that for a few classes in the past. but if I buy books, i usually buy it from other students who have already taken the class (my university has a website where students can sell their used books to other students taking the same class) and when i'm done with the class, i sell it to others (for the same price +/- 5-10 bucks) who take the class after me. if you university has something like that, use it! saves you tons!
also, not legal but i've done it in the past - search for online pdf copies if you like to read on computer screen, takes time to search but you don't have to buy book.
