YCL cadres abduct Lok-dohari singer Khanal
BUTWAL, Sept 9 - Amidst the widespread criticism of Maoists for their decision to resume kangaroo courts and to start "people's action", the cadres of the Maoist aligned Young Communist League (YCL) Saturday afternoon abducted lok-dohari (Nepali folk song) singer, Ram Prasad Khanal to “punish him as demanded by the peopleâ€.
The Maoist' Awadh Sub-State Committee chief Munal today issued a press statement to justify the move, alleging Khanal of serious crimes.
Some of the Maoist allegations are that Khanal had collected Rs 2.3 rupees from Bhairahawa Medical College in the name of the Maoists, supplied women to Crown Prince Paras and helped in suppressing the April uprising.
The YCL cadres led by the area-in-charge Milan, taken Khanal under their control from Bhairahawa Airport on Saturday when he was to board an aircraft to Kathmandu, the press statement added.
“It is people's demands that Khanal must be punished, so he was taken into controlâ€, the Maoists claimed. “He is kept at a safe placeâ€.
