I had health insurance through Dhoti's group plan and now I have to insure my wife and a kid also. But the quote I got from the same company is ridiculously expensive. It's going to cost around $880/month and is a PPO.Are there any other options.I was thinking of getting Mass Health for my wife and the kid.Is it possible to do this when I am on H1b? I know they will probably ask for immigration status.Anyone gone through similar situation. Or any other company where I can get affordable health insurance?

What kind of plan and who is the provider? Blue cross/ Blue shield, tufts plan or Harvard health Plan? Usually, it should be that high to include your family. That is almost your take home slary.

I have my wife and kid under Masshealth insurance plan since last yea. The coverage is good for my kid but it covers only emergency forme and my wife. I have student health insurance plan too from my University. This covers only for me. My wife and kid are in F2 status and I am in F1. I don't think there will be barrier for H1 to get this facility. But your income really matters. They have some ceiling for the income level. If you fall under the eligible category by income, your family may get this insurance. Please visit the following links for more information: http://www.massresources.org/pages.cfm?contentID=48&pageID=13&Subpages=yes http://www.massresources.org/pages.cfm?contentID=35&pageID=13&Subpages=yes GOOD LUCK !

Do you guys know about the mandatory health insurance for Mass residence? Does it mean you need to have insurance by December 07? They say there will be tax penalty if you can not show a proof of insurance.I got mine through commonwealth choice, but applied for my wife and child through mass Health.will there be any complication when filing taxes? Thanks
