A Senoir Maoist leader assured the business community that CPN Maoist was committed towards free and fair competitive economic policy. "CPN Maoist recognizes economic development and prosperity is not possible unless industries flourish and wealth is created," said Dev Gurung, a member of the CPN (Maoist) talk team.

Speaking at a program on ‘Future Economic Roadmap’, Gurung asserted that conflict arose in the country due mainly to uneven distribution, lack of social commitment and unhealthy competition. "While correcting those lacunae, we must institutionalize inclusive development that delivers goods to people. This is why inclusive democracy is important," said he.

Citing that the country suffers from capital constraints, he said, "We expect donor community and friendly neighbors to pledge assistance to Nepal for the country’s development and advancement of its people." He asked all players to remain committed to development and delivering people their due socio-economic entitlements, among others.

Addressing the program, Arjun Narsingh KC, senior leader of Nepali Congress said that it was impractical to expect a long-term economic roadmap when the country is undergoing state restructuring. "The government must make sure economy keeps on rolling and gains momentum though," said he, stressing on the need to create favorable industrial environment. He added that need of the hour was to meet people’s broader aspirations such as social security and safety net by institutionalizing inclusive politics.

Bam Dev Gautam, leader of CPN-UML, stated that economic issues would not take central stage unless pertinent political issues are settled. "We must understand we are in a transition stage, and the economy will have to be driven through immediate short-term plans," said he. He even asked the business community not to be hasty. "Once the political setup becomes clears, future economic roadmap will also become clear," said he.
