hi guys,
i have a sony viao model # PCGK-33 bought one and half years ago. i thought sony viao would be one of the good brands for laptop. but, right now it doesn't look so good because i am having problems with my monitor. monitor is absolutely black and i am not able to view anything. fortunately, my friend has got one monitor and am using that. if any of you guys had the similar problem before, then please share me through this thread and any suggestions and technical help would be greatly appreciated!! thanks!!

try these options
1. right click on you desktop and click properties then settings. see if by mistake 2nd minitor is use as a primary.
2. check the user guide and look for key combination on you keyboard for brightness and contrass.
3. call sony customer support and get advice if they are ready to help make sure the charges are not that high.

cheers

Delicate dude.
try following. i think it went to TV Mode. i had same problem before.
usually this happen when you press Fn+F5 on key board. you can switch pc mode by pressing
Fn-F3, or Fn-F5, or Fn-F7 on keyboards not sure depends on brand.

No picture on the laptop screen.
Most newer laptops have a 3-state toggle function to switch between internal, external and dual display. It is usually Fn-F3, or Fn-F5, or Fn-F7. Try this function waiting each time for a couple of seconds to see the effect.
Some older laptops do not support dual display function.

thanks a lot guys for your suggestions and info. actually, i had already called sony customer service and they said it's gonna be $723 to change the monitor because i have tried everything possible and they suggested me. so guys, don't be attracted with the big names. i thought sony vaio is one of the good brands in laptops, but now it proved me now. and do you know what, this model is phased out. if you go sony online, you won't find any laptop having my model number. and the same thing with the electronic stores. this means that they must have some internal errors witht the configuration. anyways, agains thanks a lot to all of you guys for giving me the time. Appreciate it!!

i repair laptops and desktop believe me sony and dell are the worst comp you'll buy. fujitsu is the best than ibm, hp ,toshiba and nec.

buy a broken laptop (something like burnt motherboard ) on ebay that uses the same monitor (LCD) as your laptop. the model can be found on the model, so that you can get the exact fcc number for your LCD, and just find laptops that uses that screen. Buy one of them at ebay at 150 or so, and replace it.
