It was obvious that the maoist would do everything to thwart the election and its not possible that the king had no idea about it...He is just driving the nation and people to bloodshed and he would be responsible for any consequences.

Despite so much national and international pressure, he is moving ahead with his own ego that ultimately burns himself to ashes. He must understand that there is no meaning of any election that can not address the issues of the rebels.

Calling Nepal banda on the day of election is better because due to Nepal banda, as the political parties used to use it, more people will have nothing to do at home and they will be more likely to go to vote.
But Physical Threat to the candidates is serious. Be it nominated or elected, local leaders are needed in every VDCs and Muncipalities to facilitate the daily administrative activities. Barring people from choosing their new leader would mean acceptance of present (nominated) leaders.

Its maoist's prime objective to disrupt polls. They have been doing it from a long time ago. They will keep on doing it till they are alive. Maoist tend to believe in Politbuero, not general elections.

So all Nepalese should first fight and root out the maoists.

But scenario might be different if it's really true that Maoists are operated by Gyane. If it is so, then Seven parties are doomed. These 7 parties are now bounded to Maoists, and towards the election time, if these parties try to bring up campaign in order to thwart the election, they can be branded as terrorists, because they are working with Maoists these days. So Gyane will define anyone as Maoist who will go act against election, and jail them easily.

For Maoists, well they are in the jungle, they will never be captured, but & party leaders will be cornered and locked up. I am sorry for these leaders of 7 parties who are so blindsighted.
