CPN (UML) general secretary, Madhav Kumar Nepal, met Indian Prime Minister, Dr Manmohan Singh, at the latter's residence in New Delhi on Wednesday.

Media reports said the UML leader apprised Prime Minister Singh about the current political situation in Nepal and the pro-democracy movement of the seven political parties.

The Indian Prime Minister expressed solidarity to the seven-party movement for democracy, assuring of all possible assistance in restoring democracy in Nepal, reports quoting members of the UML delegation said.

UML standing committee members KP Sharma Oli and Amrit Kumar Bohora and youth leader Rajan Bhattrai were also present during the meeting that lasted nearly 45 minutes.

The UML team also met former Indian Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee and Union Home Minister Shiv Raj Patil today and discussed the recent political developments in Nepal.

General secretary Nepal had held separate parleys with Indian opposition leader L K Advan, leader of Communist Party of India (Marxist) Harkishan Singh Surjit and Indian foreign secretary Shyam Saran yesterday.

The UML team is in Delhi since Sunday to seek support for the ongoing seven-party movement against the royal government. nepalnews.com mk Oct 27 05

In two of those after meeting briefings, the team including Makuni expressed surprise at how the South paw leaders were aware of things happening in Nepal.
In my opinion:
1. How can Nepalese leader not learn, that leaders from other countries do brief homework before any meetings with visitors. Learning the ground realities and calculative words expressed to make everyone happy, while the prime concern is their countries interest.
2. Of course they are aware; for speculating the grand design is beyond the capability of our medicore leaders (I call them party heads).
3. Petty interests, seeking favors at whatever costs have been the hallmark of Nepalese, right from the bottom to the top. None are immune, more expressed in these group of power tasted hungry wolves.
I hope, this trip they learn that there is lot to learn and do for the nation to be brought to right track, a fight to wrestle back power may be easier but to maintain it will test their wits.

Back home things are as they were:
neoptism, favoritism, rules meant only for the downtrodden and oppressed.
No change is possible, unless we change our attitude and learn to live collectively.

What is the medicine to cure this ill?
I guess the same that will cure, every ills plaguing the nation now.

Prem Dai,
Attention! Comrade Madhav might have promised to sell Narayani if he is helped into being next primeminister of Nepal. Having a communist leader as a premier in India, he might have expected a whole lot of favors. But,I am sure his trip was in vain. Indian leaders are more nationalistic, unlike their nepalese counterparts. Also, they know how to make a deal. They wont give you an inch unless they get a feet back. Comrade Madhav might have just been able to do an important job of sharing some sentiments with communists back in India. Other than that, he might have gone to visit his daughter whom the Indian Embassy got enrolled in AIMS. He, of course, is bored in Nepal, doesn't have much following and going these days. I think he didnt get anything out of his visit. Just a back pain.
