Binita is a bright student pursuing 10+2 with science major in a local school Sarswati H Secondary School located in a village of Aahala, Gorkha District of Nepal. She is a daughter of a struggling mother who has tirelessly worked mainly to support her daughter's education which is rare case in Nepal. Binita and her mother are facing hard time living after Binita's father passed away a couple of years ago.Her mom is a sole person to earn their livings. With no government support after SLC (10th grade), her mother is pleading support from various sources to help her daughter pursue her education in a hope of bringing back smile to the family and be proud of daughter's achievements.

Benita's Academic Profile: Binita secured 74.13%(First Division) in her School Leaving Certificate (10th grade) exam in the year 2069 BS (2012/2013). Despite her hardships and unavodiable circumstances, she has secured good marks and continues to do so. In this plight, Binita's mother has already used all her savings of around $400 on her education, meeting her admission and other fees. The only source of income for the family is the sale of her cattle that she raises at her home which is just enough to sustain. The school has generously discounted 50% on her admission fees onetime payment, based upon Binita's academic credentials that she earned in her SLC Exams. Even with this discount, she needs to pay for remaining school fees, rent, food, educational materials and supplies, which is about $600 until she graduates from her high school.

Field observation: Our HMS field coordinator, Mr. Ashok Bhagat highlighted the real ground situation by visiting her place on 17th
February 2014 with the following remarks "When I met Binita and her mother and went to see her living place which she had rented. I simply could not imagine how difficult it is for her to live. Her room was so small, hardly any light could pass into it and the problems of load shedding ((power shortage) existed most of the time. She has a bed, a small kitchen, a book rack, clothes hung on the wall and a gas stove, to cook her food. Also she needs to reserve extra water for her daily use. She lives by herself in that rented room and next-door to her lives a family a mother with two sons who are very helpful and caring to Binita. Therefore, her mother is less worried about her only daughter even though she is away from her home.

Financial Needs:

1. Admission- Nrs 5000 (50% discounted by school (based on her SLC performance) and 50% paid by the student through a loan)
2. Monthly fee- Nrs 12000 per year (@NRs1000 per month)
3. Room Rent Nrs 6000 per year (@NRs500 per month)
4. Educational materials and miscellaneous expenditures per year -Nrs4000 (Text Books, Exercise Note books etc).

Total for one year: Nrs 27,000 (US $272.50).
Total for two year: Nrs 54,000 (US$ 545.00).
Other Misc Expenses: NRs 6500 (US$ 65.00).

This plight was heard by HelpMyStudy Nepal via Upendra Bom, our US Representative. Based upon the field visit report and credentials submitted by our official in Nepal, the board of HelpMyStudy has decided to help raise funds to support Binita's education and help her achieve her dream. This can only be made possible with generous support of all of us.

Further, Binita's mother's simple remarks speak a lot: "Due to my situation I am struggling to educate my daughter but at this point I am very happy that HMS Nepal has taken the responsibility to support her higher secondary education and now I am out of my worries."

Our small help will make a big difference to Binita's education in particular and our mission of supporting unprivileged, bright and
needy ones in whole. This is also an extra-ordinary opportunity to a salute strong dedication and commitment of a mother to educate her daughter by chipping off our coffee money for Binita's education.

Your small help can give this distressed mom a hope, and support the student to pursue her dream. As we all know a well-known proverb: "you educate a man you educate an individual, but if you educate a woman you educate a family (nation)."
