Hello brothers and sisters, I am in a situation. I got married last year in Nepal. My spouse is still in Nepal. I am residing in the US as a permanent resident. I filed for I-130. It got approved and today I got letter from National Visa Center. What are my next steps? I am really confused. Please guide me with detailed instructions. Thank you very much.

Visit the USCIS websites it guides u step by step. According to my case after approving I-130 too i had to wait for Priority Date to be current. I followed the every month visa bulletin thoroughly, once it became current I filed I-485, I-765. You can download all applications from USCIS websites.

You need to make sure if the Visa number has become available. For that, you need to see on the Visa bulletin. If the Visa number has become available for your spouse, your case will be transferred to National Visa Center. NVC will send you a letter explaining the next steps like 1. Pay for affidavit support - $88. Apply for affidavit support with supportive documents. 2. Pay $230 for visa processing.

For affidavit of support- you need to pay $88 online. They might have given you the link. Fill up the form for affidavit of support and print it. Include your tax documents for 3 recent years. It can be the photocopies of the tax return document or the transcripts. You can order transcripts online on IRS's website. You need your employer's letter stating your yearly income. If you didn't file for tax return, you have to write a letter explaining your reason. You also need a letter called verification of non filing. You can get that at nearest IRS office.

Furke, Don't panic. I see these immigration things panics us a lot. If you have done already what you were supposed to based on the very letter, then this is just an oversight which seem to happen a lot in these offices. Similar thing happened to me, they asked for something that I had already submitted. All you need to do is call them and smack 'that chinese lady' heck out of her on what else she needs. And she will say 'no, you all set, just ignore the letter'. And you can rest in peace. (of course you need to do your DD, point is, if you believe you have done everything then just a call is in order).
