In your case considering the bad market situation its better if you give the priority for using your OPT. you are lucky as u are under 29 months opt stream. the plus point of doing this is you can go for any job even for entry or middle level job. Not necessarily only the jobs that require h1b. our focus comes to getting a job first rather than worrying for visa status change. the reason behind is H1B without job is worst case. Once H1B you'll fall under so many restriction that ..your flexibility will be completely limited in terms of job search. worst case if you go through dhoti consultancies you'll be under there hands ...completely trapped ready to get sacrified... scape goat. Now you might be genious/ lucky as u might never have to go through all these by getting quick job..but u already mentioned afuley khejera garo bhayo..bhanera and remember market is full of jobseekers. Sometimes in life you'll reach the destination just walking than without jumping. NO matter entry position..Using Opt will give you enough time to surpass these bad market conditon...it will also make you capable enough in terms of job experience. good thing... most companies prioritize internal hiring you can easily get better position within the Co. even though you might have started as entry level. I think its a perfect way to go and good market practice for everybody(I know this way is tough and challenging). Now you might think pachi h1 bhandai basyo bhane jhan K hola K hola. but believe me H1 without job is not good. So once again Job is the main part here. you'll have more option to find job when you are in opt. (ani milcha bhaney dhoti sanga pani training liyee rakhney ni ani dhoti lai pani marketing garna diyee rakhney). It doesnt have to be H1b for them to market you. If they talk so just speak up tell them they can get there share if you get a job through them, tell them you are in opt keep marketing me but tell them going thru OPT is your priority. not interested in h1 without job..if not this year ..I'll do next year. If you dont agree me try imaginig yourself that you actually have an h1b.. akhir job betyo bhaney 29 months samma extend garna payeehalchawoo(without any restriction) compared to H1b(full of restriction) tesailey timlai bhanchu job bhaye pachi matra h1b gara atleast 1 yr time diyera hera. Be positve ..bholi feri K hola K bhanera hatar ley H1B tira dawoodee halney ya mero ahiley ko job pawooney tarika h1 apply garda matra huncha bhaney ..galat sochai ma chahi naparnu. Go and speak up with dhoti..this is what i prefer you do..for now keep marketing me. I am sure you'll be better off that way.

Job napayyerakheko bela ma uniharuley contract paper sing garey pachi matra offer letter dinchu bhaney kura batai bujincha its some kinda trap(if u dont get job) Aaba Opt ko naya rule sachikai yeti kada banako cha within 3 months employer information university lai dinu parcha bhaney yo sachikai ..sabai ko lagi naramro kura ho...ek hisab ley khaney bhaye kha natra Marr nai bhaneko ho...now you have both tough choice buddy. Aaba 2 ta naramro ma kaam naramro tira janu paryo. esai bhana garo cha h1 without job ko disadvantage bhani sakey. h1 garna tamseyna bhaney yeta OPT nai napawooney bho.. sachikai 3 months bhitra university lai job offer dekhawoonu parcha ra opt pawoona? teso ho bhaney aaba alikati kum chor dhoti bhai khojney uniharusanga khulera kura garney ...h1 nagari hudai nahuney bhayo bhaney aaba as a last choice tetai tira janu paryo (k garney natra H1 pani nahuney OPT pani nahuney raicha..) yo bich ma afailey ley job khojdai garera yo jhanjhat bata paar huna kosis garney ta chadai cha. yesko lagi good luck.. my advice since time line for you to decide and move ahead is so less dont limit your jobsearch only on(h1 kinda job) any job that can extend your opt is ok for yo( H1 chahi nagarney ya chahidai nachahiney khalko bhaye pani huncha) this iwill give you enough time to prepare yourself with lots of good choices

look for school that gives CPT (intern) during first sem, join it, look for intern(which is much more easier to get than direct job)..do it..and ask them to apply for h1b(since u already have degree on ur hand)..once approved..drop out of school...i'm not sure how practical will this be though.

Hi Nepal SACH22, I also think that the suggestion given by dipulata and techguy is the best way. So,better to work in OPT than H1(full resticition). If you find some dhoti join them take offer letter send the information to school(within first 3 months of OPT).If you want to your country in H1(without job) it will be problem.Even if you have job from dhoti people will afraid to face interview in embassy. The job market is very bad.If you do not like that consultancy you can change other consultancy at any time, but in H1 transfer is also not so easy. The contract with dhoti is not so important .I think the dhoti will also happy to give offer letter.Because in this situation most do not want invest 3000 dollar by themselves. If I am not wrong,You need two paychecks if you want to come F1 from H1.For that also you have to invest for dhoti. In sajha also I have seen friends who are willing to come F1 from H1. The other important part is that after getting H1 you have to pay taxes.I am not sure how many consultancy are paying taxes in H1.So,I hope you will get more suggestios from sajha friends.Do not make decision in hurry. In life,we have to guess also or try to estimte the future plans. But sometime it does not work. So,I remember the chinease proverb. To guess is cheap,to guess wrong is expensive.

Thanks to dipulata, techguy and countryroad. sachikai 3 months bhitra university lai job offer dekhawoonu parcha ra opt pawoona? Ans: otherwise how would INS keep track that we are in valid f1 status? School le report garnu parchha uniharu lai so before your OPT expires(3 months), u have to report your school. Techguy: First sem ma CPT dine schools kunai kehi idea??? Countryroad: I have also talked to some dhoti consultancies ( had a word of mouth from friends who have been there for a year or transferred their h1b there). They are willing to start “marketing†but very slow in action/word. I think we have to put our own effort as well than relying on them to land us a job. Yes, I will give a try. j bhayeni STATUS ma basnako lagi offer letter accept garera univ lai report garumla. Afai ni try garula, uniharu lai ni garde bhanera ghachghachai rahula. Kei na kei ta hola ni aasha garnu parchha sadhai yesto bad situation ta na hola ni yo desh ma J Once again thanks to you guys!

NEPAL_SACH22, I am also In the same situation.. Donot Go for CPT when You have OPT in hand, would be suicidal..If u can make a letter stating u are working for some Job even a volunteer Job(has to be in ur field of study) will save u from 90 days rule..and this is rule is u cannot be unemployed continioulsy for more than 90 days , not the initial 90 days period after ur OPT..Yeah, Dhoti consulatancy are reluctant in hiring..Question..What is priority Job or H1B? If H1b go and sign the docs that dhotti give u..if job, keep on trying, Without Foreign graduates i don't think Americans will be fill out the posn..Keep on trying, if possible try to do the Job in W2 or Corp to corp..I still don't think that economy has become severe for IT jobs..Eye small companies, Send ur resume ,call the HR manager(Courtesy call)....Small Time Jobs can also save ur staus like working in Warehouse with mobile assembling(If u r in IT)..Been there done that..

NEPAL_SACH22 Jee, I think u r in a much better shape that those who have their H1B but still unable to find their job. Like all other suggestions above, I also suggest you to find the entry level positions in the IT field. There is no gurantee that you'll get job even if you get your H1B. So , I suggest you not to waste your time and start finding your job on OPT. I believe you also know that www.craigslist.org is the best job site for applying to the jobs from the direct employer. And, though you are in a consultancy right now, you can still apply to those jobs (entry level/mid level positions) and doesn't even have to worry about the 3-months OPT rule at the moment. And once you get your job, you can leave that consultancy anytime you want. You don't even have to worry about their contract.

if you got hired through a staffing agency to a company who sadly wont sponsor your h1b .. are there any dhoti consultancies that can apply for h1b and charge for that only. i guess it is legal for one to have 2 jobs and apply for h1b through only one and only work for one. pls suggest.

FYI.. If you are unemployed for a cumulative of 90 days from the OPT start date, you must leave the country. During your employment period, you must work or volunteer in your major field of study for at least 20 hours a week to qualify as employed. However, if your employment is terminated or interrupted in some way and no more than 10 days passes in between starting a new job, no time will be deducted from the 90-day clock. source:http://www.macalester.edu/isp/workopps.html [More info about "International Student Work Options"]
