If u are already a civil engineer,,then try to stick with it,,Fight a little more and i am sure u will get it. I have a bunch of friends from civil engg who managed to get their jobs in structural and geotech.. It sure is painful while u are searching for  job,,but it's worth it. One can always go with seemingly easier option of gettting stuck with a dhoti consultant,,but i am sure that it's not a very pleasant expereince to give in to their exploitations.

People with Skills are never out of job.  If they become victim of circumstances, they create jobs for themselves and many others.  People who graduate in hopes to find a job and not care much about the value they would bring to the employer, eventually become a liability to the company.  Sharpen your skills.  There are many degree holders like you who are complaing about the work environment, employers, and how Dhotis are.  Walton, Gates, Buffet didn't reach to the height where they are with this whining attitude. You are not in India; you are not forced to work with them.  Whiners will become big losers one day.  Working for an employer doesn't only mean collecting paychecks, it's also the learning phase.  The world is moving fast and if you don't acquire sharper skills, your degree will eventually become paper with no value.

PS: If you have problem with the system, join politics. Engineering is a wrong field for you.  Do you have the guts to fix the system of this country?  Of course not!  You could not fix a small country like Nepla, how would you dare to resolve the issues of this country?

@nagarikreport: wait bro.. i think people are not expecting your philosophy in this thread! i guess nobody is trying to talk about changing the system or whatsoever.. they are just expecting ur mere 2 cent advice that could increase their possibility in finding a job & don't talk about Gates, Bernanke and stuffs.. we all know that sky is the limit! Peace.

Don't go for QA, first of all, mostly housewives of H1 Dhotis do QA training and it's hard to get it. The pay is not great..
JAVA is good but you need programming knowledge. I suggest you go back to college and take some JAVA courses then join consultancy. It is Hard bro. Very Hard....

I strongly suggest people coming to US that think twice before you study any MAJOR.
Take Advice from People.

Once again, Let me repeat, Don't study subjects that American can study easily.

Never Study;;;, BIOLOGY, CHEMISTRY, CIVIL, SOCIOLOGY, PSYCOLOGY, CHILDHOOD EDUCATION, BBA, MBA etc.

Study Subjects like: MATHEMATICS, STATISTICS, COMPUTER ENGG, COMPUTER SCIENCE, IT etc.

Good Luck.
