Hey guys, my bhinaju is applying for a visa to attend my graduation. I know its kind of risky but we are just taking a shot. I would be grateful if you can give me some tips and do or don't? He has a Master's Degree and currently working as a lecturer on a campus. He has pretty impressive CV filled with experiences with big NGOs/INGOs but i have told him not to focus on his academia or experiences. Any inputs will be highly appreciated!!

Why do you need Vinaju for your graduation? It is very odd "Dude". When I graduated nobody was with me.

SydBro: You know this already but it is not going to an easy case to make for your wannabe cool bhinaju... I don't mean to discourage but I think that's the reality.

syd_acid, after knowing that your bhinaju will be the only one from your family applying for the visa, I think he has a decent chance of getting the visa if he keeps things simple. By that I mean that, if he doesn't focus too much on his stellar academic and professional work and just simply tells the counselor that since you really want to share your happiness with at least one person from your family and he is the only one who can attend it, he wants to get the visa to be able to share your happiness during the graduation. Good Luck! As far as I am concerned, I think he definitely has a decent chance of getting the visa. Click here to subscribe to syd_acid's postings. sabkosathi bro, thanks for the input. i am keeping my fingers crossed and lets see how it goes. One random question: What do you guys think opting to give the interview in English might play any roles in the possibility of getting a visa? I told him to choose Nepali.

I suggest going completely Nepali and acting in such a way that he would not survive a day in the US without being supported... Someone already pointed out about the academic and professional achievements - let them stay locked in the closet. And yes, resume would be the visa killer. It will seem like he has already got his resume ready for job applications...

What a pity. No one wants to live here. This is our Country. Respect her. And how dare you put such a question here. Sajha should ban this whoever this person is. Post your Bhinaju's name and address and I will help him flee his own motherland. Good Luck.

Bihein Garein जाठो moral police आयो सबै thread मा रस्ट्रियता भर्दै । sync_acid bro its almost impossible to get it done. Apply with your sister too to make it convincing because she is closer to you by blood not bhinaju . If both get visa only he can come if she can't/wish. Still my bhinaju did not get but dad and mom got. Good luck dude

Oh.. Please... Anyone who travels and pushes the boundary is cool. That applies everywhere. If an American travels to the mountains of Nepal, then he would be considered cool. What's the problem with you guys?

I have a suggestion: Send an invitation to your bhinaju along with your parents. Give a good reason , you father is not able to go and your brother in-law will be accompanied with your mother.
But the questions arises from Counselor's point of view, do Nepalese have enough money to support for living and air fare? Once you get the visa, choice is yours, who ever wanted to fly or stay. Are you working legally? I mean 20 or 40 hours even in school to show you can support room and board ( not full time may not be good idea for air fare)

If he's really trying to look cool why not tell him to buy a cheap pair of sunglasses and wear them without taking off the tag? I wouldn't bother if you had not posted your family matter here but now that you have, i can totally smell some fishy fishy here. you Bhinaju is a politically connected person to work for NGO and like someone up there said, i can smell it like rotten fish around ashan area that he's coming here to file for political asylum. ouch! if thats the case give us full case story , other wise don't act smart by giving partial truth and ask question. if i were the visa issuing officer, i would deny it within 10 secs but he might get lucky. Coming to America is no longer a cool thing in Nepal. there are thousands and thousands of people who have visited America and constantly coming to America with DV,Student, etc visa. maybe it would have been the case like 20 years ago. oh ya and like that annoying guy says on kantipur videos: hoinaaaaaaaaaaaaa taa , ki kaaaaaaaaaaaaaasssssssssssssssssoooooo ta?

dyamn: Your comments are unnecessarily harsh. How can you be so sure about his motives? You don't know nothing about the guy. I would not agree with your hypothesis that working in NGO automatically makes your rotten. You are way out of line on this one.

.. ya whatever..i am from Nepal and i can tell when partial truth is told by my fellow Nepalis.. how do you know thats not the case? btw, do you know the guy personally, has he whispered on your ears what he plans to do? ...the guy is asking for opinion in a public forum and thats my opinion.. sorry if sounded harsh, but thats what i would think if i were the visa granting officer..

I would like to say" Who cares?", why he wanted to invite, if he stays so what ? 17 millions are here and if one more form Nepal does make any difference to us (Nepali). May be one more gas attendant loose hours????????? Yes, most of us like to pull legs ( may be we are expressing our frustration or anger ), I have done that too. But let us not act as if we are the counselor??????????

Dyamn: I am sure you told the visa officer during your interview that you intend to stay in the US and still got it stamped... I really applaud your honesty.

Wow! you guys have pulled this thread lil too far. I never said "bhinaju wanna be cool by coming to USA" only thing i said was "it will be cool to hang out with him here as i m really close to him & its always good to see our relative in a foreign soil" I took the invitational letter with me when I went home on December and told him to give a try.Guys, he has a good living and donn freaking question his qualifications. Its just funny to read how people perceive things and make big deal out of it. All i asked was to give me some suggestion that will improve the chances of getting VISA? and the reason he is applying for visa is I want him to come in my graduation and see the place i have been living for last 4 years. Ans if I want, we can apply coz we have a reason. So, i donn wanna hear anything "if I were a counsellor " s*hit, ya r a fcking scum and thats that ya will be. Grow up!!!
