Holy shit of the day!
VP gives ambiguous reply on taking fresh oath to SC
| Vice President Paramananda Jha | Vice President Paramananda Jha has given an ambiguous reply to the Supreme Court, obscurely indicating he is not ready to take fresh oath in Nepali, in a letter sent to the court, Wednesday.
Although SC had asked VP Jha to clearly mention, if he does not want to take fresh oath in Nepali, the VP has not done so.
Instead, he has mentioned, I am still in confusion about in which language to take the oath in. There is confusion about which language the government uses for its records, Jha has mentioned in a letter written to the court Wednesday.
VP Jha has also claimed, the SC had not annulled the oath paper in Nepali he signed.
"Although, the court has annulled the oath I had taken in Hindi, it has not ordered the President to re-administer oath to me," Jha has written further.
Indicating in a roundabout way that he is not willing to take fresh oath in Nepali, VP Jha has said, I can 'do something' if the President agrees to administer oath and the office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers makes arrangement for the oath-taking and informs me. He has not clarified what 'doing something' means.
The President's office has already written to the court saying the President is willing to administer fresh oath to the VP, if the latter is willing for it. The court had sought information on the efforts undertaken to implement the court's orders from the President's office.
Likewise, the office of the Prime Minister and the Council of Ministers has also written to the VP's office seeking his permission to make arrangements for an oath-taking function, following a cabinet decision to this effect.
A full bench of Justices Tapa Bahadur Magar, Ram Kumar Prasad Sah, Kalyan Shrestha, Prem Sharma and Bharat Raj Uprety is hearing on a writ filed by Nava Raj Nyaupane and Bishnu Prasad Bastola demanding Jha's dismissal from the post of VP accusing him of continuing work without retaking the oath despite court orders. nepalnews.com

Holy shit of the day
Sujata had bought new wardrobe, got haircut for her cancelled India trip | Foreign Minister Sujata Koirala (File photo)
| Foreign Minister Sujata Koirala had apparently bought new sarees and visited her hairdresser while making all the necessary preparation for her trip to India with the Prime Minister, but she had to skip it at the last minute owing to her 'sore throat'.
In a candid talk with journalists at her residence in Mandikhatar Friday as she faces intense heat for her last minute decision to back out of the PM's India trip, Minister Koirala said she was very keenly looking forward to this trip, but was compelled to cancel it at the last moment after developing a throat infection which her doctors said was caused by acidity.
Koirala said she had made all the necessary preparations for the visit including buying sarees and getting a hair cut, and made it clear that the post of Deputy Prime Minister was "not a big thing" for her as she could have got it even after returning from India visit.
She said that Nepali Congress is the largest party in the present coalition government and that as she leads it in the government, she has every right to claim the post of DPM.
The foreign minister has been severely criticized by rival political parties including her own Nepali Congress as there is speculation that she cancelled her trip to India to show her discontent with Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal at not being appointed Deputy Prime Minister.

Son of a gun! Who brought this wacky in our country?
KATHMANDU, Aug 26 - While pressure has been mounting to retake the oath of office and secrecy in Nepali language, Vice President Paramananda Jha Wednesday said he would rather resign. He said he would give up the post of the Vice President, but not take the oath in Nepali language, during a meeting with the representatives of Linguistic Rights Joint Struggle Committee today. The Joint Struggle Committee had submitted a memorandum to Jha asking not to take the oath again. Quoting the Vice President, a member of the Joint Struggle Committee informed, “I am ready to resign as per the verdict of the Supreme Court.” The SC on Sunday gave Vice President Jha a 7-day timeline to retake the oath of office in Nepali, failing to obey which, he will cease to remain the vice president. The President has suggested him to respect the SC order, while the Madhes-based lawmakers have dubbed the ruling unjust, biased and immoral and suggested not to do so.Lawmakers of major political parties and others as well floated the opinion that Jha should not be sworn-in again, at the programme titled “Political Parties’ Opinion on Srupreme Court’s Decision” organised at Madhes Media House in the capital on Wednesday. Unified CPN (Maoist) lawmaker Prabhu Sah said, “Nationality doesn’t strengthen jus because you speak Hindi language. Nationality should be searched in sentiments, not clothes and language.” Similarly, Nepali Congress lawmaker Ajay Chaurasiya opined the forces working on stalling the constitution-drafting process want the issue to become a language debate. Although the CPN-UML hasn’t given its official opinion on the issue, its lawmaker Gopal Thakur said the repeated swearing-in means recognising the rights of Khas language. Other major Madhes-based political parties are of the opinion that this is a conspiracy to get rid of the spirit of the Madhes Uprising. “The same people didn’t protest when the lawmakers of Sadbhawana (party) took the oath in Hindi language in the parliament. But now they are conspiring as a Madhesi was able to hold a prestigious position,” lawmaker and joint chairman of Nepal Sadbhawana Party Laxman Lal Karna claimed.

whaaa... I guess the Hindi speaking population residing in Nepal are looking for a representative who will stand by them. If he resigns, he's going to win their favor, and might as well segregate from the entire country? Just let him take the vow and MOVE ON with it! :) If he takes the vow, we still have one unified country, if he doesnt, we get divided, and our madeshi half (originally our brothers) now hate us. Two sides are struggling and this poor guy is smack in the middle of them. On one side, the madhesis looking for someone strong are trying to force him NOT to take the oath in Nepali (cuz I guess they have their reasons for that as well) and the Supreme Court (aka the govt.) is forcing him to take oath in Nepali because if he doesnt, then its a win for the Madhesis and the people in power dont want to make more room for newcomers. My personal opinion, but I think the problem is with these "people in power". A bunch of them about 20 who know what is going on, but dont want to acknowledge it because if they DO, then they will HAVE to do something about it. I'm just curious, so WHO are the top power wielders in our country (maybe I should open a new thread for this)? The decision makers. The guys who take the decisions for the ENTIRE nation. Think this is substantial matter for a debate? :)

holy snikes : Can't stop laughing once again seeing this sapheads Maoist chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal has asked his party workers to be ready for a nationwide stir to be launched by the party soon. | (From left) Founder member of Nepal Communist Party Nar Bahadur... | Speaking at a tea reception organised by the Maoist-affiliated Newa State Council in the capital Monday afternoon, Dahal said the Maoist party is going to create a wave of protests which might well turn into third Janaandolan (people's movement), and party cadres to stay prepared for that.
Dahal maintained that there is a need for third Janaandolan to restore civilian supremacy, write the new constitution and bring the peace process to a logical end.
The Maoist strongman also claimed that some elements were conspiring to dissolve the Constituent Assembly and derail the peace process.
“Some people have already started talking about imposing President’s rule,” Dahal said, adding, “But, we are not going to run away from peace process nor are we going to let the CA dissolve.”
Whatever the provocations, the Maoists will not return to jungle, he added.
Dahal also said his party made a grave mistake by bringing current Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal into the CA and that the party was regretting the decision.
Earlier, addressing a gathering of senior Maoist cadres from Terai at the party headquarters Koteshwor Dahal said possibility of consensus among parties was getting weaker and that protests would be the next step.
Meanwhile, a prescheduled meeting of top leaders of the three major parties could not take place today due to Nepali Congress president Girija Prasad Koirala’s bad health.
Bilateral meetings of the three parties yesterday hit a snag after the Maoist side put forward a 'new proposal', seeking 'package agreement', which would include formation of a national unity government, among others. source -nepalnews.com
