A fresh start was always welcome and people did appreciate an authentic food it always served but the question still remain....should the waiter/waitress be allowed for tips...i don't know how far this is true but i heard that tips are not a part of the waiter/ waitress that serve the daily labor to this restaurant....should we take this in consideration ,, will letting them have tips serve as a reward of their service... should they be allowed 2 have it...or the owners... friendly opinions are always welcome....

Can you verify tips do not go to proper hands? It is a crime! Tips should be there .. specially in America/Australia because those working guys are students.. most of the times.. they need money for some genuine purpose.

i don't want to give out names because of their identity flashing out but i sure can assure u that this has been going on..and from what i heard ..the new administration is totally against tips..... i even know that a lot of indian restaurants do practice this too...but should a nepali treat another in this manner...is this what we call "slaved by our own"

considering the service provided by the waitress in himalayan aroma i dnt thnk they shud get any tips. im nt against giving tips, afterall i am a working student too and i know that we should be rewarded for our labour but i dont think they deserve any tips for that kinda service. rather they should give us a discount for tolerating their unfriendly and unwelcoming behaviour or service as they call it.

hum....it sure is getting serious then....i wasn't aware of that situation....i sure would agree with that kind of opinion but i still m in favor of giving them their tips considering their service....

u gotta have to give tips...that's what the waitress/waiter for......some bad customers....don't let them think nepalese customers r the worst...their boss pay them nothing..all it depends on their tips....

Dunno much about Himalayan Aroma but It depends what kind of agreement and hourly rate discussed between the employe and employer. If they are offered more than 8 dollars an hour, tips is gone to the employer but if its around 3 and some change an hour, tips goes to employe. To me I pay for service not for look. If you are an owner you rather pay tips to the employe so they are encouraged to give their customer better service and result for better tips and obviously for returning patrons. Its a piece of my suggestions

In general, if the waiters are getting market compensation per hour or even lower, then they should be able to split the gratuities among themselves or keep the gratuities individually whatever the arrangement is at a given restaurant. On the other hand, if the employees may be working without INS authorization, then they might have the lower hand in deciding the compensation structure. In that case, the employees should be just grateful that they have jobs. On the part of the customer/guest the recommended tip is between 10%-20% of the subtotal without tax added. At eateries where service is reviewed poorly but the food is above average, I have, at times, mulled over paying the tips in advance so that I would get an acceptable service throughout the service experience. In any industry esp. in hospitality industry, if the employer allows the waiters to keep the tips it directly result in a more caring customer service which in turn will encourage returning patrons.

Himalayan Aroma: very good food, n service as well....i was a daily customer bfore this credit crunch took its toll on me too :p Himalayan Aroma is more like a social restaurant where ppl are more of regular basis... i used tip them very well too. but if i go there evryday n ve daily meals there n ve to tip them everyday i would not go there daily the first place.... n i know that waiters are paid adequate there not $15/hr but well over the minimum wage... n as long as they pay the waiters well, its good for me too coz i dont tip them, in turn i get to go there daily n they get to keep there daily business!! sounds good to me..... but if u dont go there very often,,,plz do TIP....no matter who it goes to.. Go Aroma :p
