But Dr.Yadav is not everybody now. He is the first president of New Nepal. He represents Nepal now. No matter where go goes, how he presents does matter to 29 million Nepalese.

I am very happy that he is well educated and have a clean image (not the VP though) and comes from a farmer family just like most of us.  But I cannot see him dhoti kurta when he stands before a mass and talks about Nepal.

there is a saying in Nepali "हींग नभए नी हींग बाद्या टालो छ" which is relevant here.

Ek bhasha. ek bhesh bhanne panchyat kaalin bichar ta chhaina tara tesko aasar chhai aajhai chha hami Pahadi bich. I think as a prez, he should be allowed to and should wear his cultural attire because it does not matter. Where as there should a restriction that he should not speak anything other than Nepali in front of mass etc because that matters.

Another thing, by saying that he should wear daura surual you are trying to prove that madhesh\terai is a colony of Pahad and their culture is less important. This is what all those so called Madhesi Parties want to hear and cry for self determinations and all that shit.

for some reason, i cannot picture our new president wearing a dhoti, man. i know nepal is a diverse country. but what is our common national dress - daura suruwal, not dhoti, not gurung dress etc.

just my thought but tottaly agree on the language. Just Nepali or english - no other language.

When these elected officials meet in the parliament for a session it does not look nice or professional to show up in different kinds of outfits like they are all attending a fancy dress fashion show. I think this issue was also covered in the thread

Anyways, but what really amazes me is why should an elected official from the Himalayan region or Terai region not give up their usual outfit from either region so that the dress is appropriate for the unique weather seasons of Kathmandu. In the Capital city, neither the Madhise dhoti can withstand the severe cold nor the bakhkhu from the Himalayan area can bear the summer heat. If the officials cannot even reach a consensus on a professional code of outfit and language then how in the world are they going to agree on the slew of debates they will be have to overcome in the days to come?
If wearing Daura Suruwal during office hours for the elected ones is too much a hassle then formal dress code  like pants, shirt and coat for men and a sari and blouse of selected hues for women should be employed as a requirements.

Also the news media should only conduct interviews in English or Nepali (whichever is appropriate) whether it's for newspapers, television or internet media outlets and no matte where the venue or region is.

see friends, as we start debting what should a president of Nepal wear keep in mind he represents whole Nepal and should accept whole nepali's sentiment.It wwon't matter whatever he wear outside office or in his personal life but as he stands for Npali representing nepali no oubt he must wear nepali national dress, He must , ths is not only my saying it is mandatory if a president represents nepali not a madhesi, Sherpa, Bahun or whatever. Today is one of my saddiest day of my life.  Me myself as Sirus, I feel like I've got virus in my body as I heard all President, Vice-President and Prime Minister and CA would be taken by madhesi people. My heart is totally ripped off as My nepal would be no more an independent country within years. I can smell that right now. I don't mind for the president Ram Baran Yadav and VP who had done lot of misbehaviors and are elected from Madhesi community but to elect prime-minister from MJF who is fourth largest party is completely a nonsense and might be a signs of danger and threat to sovereignty of Nepal. Like on the other threads, I supported Ram Baran Yadav as he has decent profile and practices medicines and have done lot of contribution but to elect some one from MJF just because of alliance of NC, UML and MJF makes me feel like my country would never be developed as it was said "sati le sarapeko desh". Why the heck would Nepal had to go through all the election when Maoist won by most majority of votes and they can't leave the government now? At least it would have saved lot of money if they could have just formed a government by alliance instead of doing all the hassle of election. It is said that democracy has come to nepal but I would say no, it's not democracy,it's hypocracy. It's  said that here finally comes republican government of Nepal but It's best to say an alliance government of Nepal, the best word to say.  It's all because of India, the neighboring monster who's been always looking towards our mountains specially Mt Everest, hyrdo-electricity resources and minerals from long time. No wonder on one of the advertisements broadcasted in India which can be also read on mysansar.com(if you have read), It was seen, Nepal was annexed into India and the host said News from India. Those are all the signs of India trying to annex Nepal just like it did to Sikkim. I also blame Maoists for sneaking away from the government instead of leading the government. All nepalese voted for you to lead the government and now you are staying away to lead the government just because your presidential candidate lost the election. Com'on  now, why is it only about kurchee you politicians are fighting all the time. Think about the country, the sovereignty and people of Nepal who sacrificed lives in janaandolan II, people who are dreaming of "Naya Nepal". Why all the parties are always fighting for that kurchee which used to be for prime minister and now kurchee for President? I don't know what's gonna happen to Nepal within years. Thinking about that, It makes me sad and gloomed.
