I have nothing to say about the cadres... but these f*cking Maoists leaders should be eliminated.. they have brou ght nothing but pains to Nepalese... they are complicating everything in Nepal. What they are preaching never gonna happen, they know it, we know it as well.

There is no doubt that Mr. Harke's words have some tinge of truth. With world immensely focused on the Terrorism for the past few years, we do have developed some ways to counter-fight it. At times, even US strategy to go after few terrorists instead of trying to find the root cause of it has been criticized. With this known, we should also try to formalize our own plan to curb the terrorism in Nepal, but the focus should be in finding the root cause of the evil.
During the first half of the period since Maoist went underground, they were not as powerful as today and hence no political parties or government formed under their coalition even cared to address that problem. As Maoist were able to successfully implement their influence on the majority of the kingdom with their tactics of hook or crook then finally the political parties and the so called intellectual class as represented by the majority of the kathmandulis started thinking it as a grave problem.
During the last few years of the late King Birendra's reign, it was realized that this problem be given an immense priority and expedite its solution. But to the utter disappointment of the Nepalese people that effort never really materialized.
After the cold blooded assassination of the Royal family by Gyane and his mercenaries, Gyane pretended to well understand this problem and to clean his image in the international arena, he portrayed himself to facilitate talks between the Maoist and the then government which by the way changed so many times under his influence I can't even remember the number. But let us understand, King Gyane never had intention to have reconciliation between the Maoist and the parties, and whether you like it or not this has been his sole intention.
Let us not forget the Maoists who have wrongly taken up the gun are also the Nepalese. It would be outright inhumane to wipe them all just because they have been associated with Maoist in one form or another. There is no doubt, someone has committed crime against humanity, but we cannot take the route what Gyane did inside Narayanhiti Palace and wipe them all. This simply won't happen because gyane has already tried this tactic but we know what it has engendered.
If only we can bring back these Maoist back to the table and work on the overall interest on Nepal and its common people, we can devise a system to make things much better than the present, if not the worst. But, the Greasted Loser in this game would be Gyane(i mean according to him) coz he believes if common Nepalese gets educated and bought up equally then his power influence will be jeopardized. What a fate we have, this king simply couldn't remember a simple Arti given by his own forefather and our Great Kind Prithivi Narayan Shah,"Praja Moto bhaya, Desh baliyo huncha". This sometimes makes me think how can even fear be so selfish?
well, my bottom-line for all these talking was to say that in every problem it becomes imperative to identify and isolate and destroy the Root-Cause.
And my fellow Nepalese, I guess there is no doubt in your mind just like mine, that
Gyane is the Root of ALL EVIL.
Once this root-Evil is uprooted, all the branches, leaves or even fruit as a part of it will crumble.
Let us all contribute to Uproot this evil, so we have a better reason to be proud to be a citizen of the Sovereign Nepal. The blood that many people have spilled won't go wasted and this uprising will continue until the day when we get The Blood, you know whose I’m talking of.

Maoist movement has roots in the socially, politically and economically unjust and unfair Nepali society itself.

Democracy is not simply about freedom or expression, freedom to vote for some Netaa and freedom to put out some julus. Democracy is about building a fair and just society.

The Maoists are the fruits of politically, socially and economically unfair and unjust society. If people can uproot social, political and economic unjustices and unfairness in the Nepali society...the Maoist will have very little chance to surface as some terrible monster.

freedom from tyranny and a vision of an egalitarian society
the maoists just believe that in a country steeped in feudal culture, the only way to bring this sea-change about was through armed revolution

and while we cheer the non-violent movement on, consider this..
if g was not afraid of maoist military action, then at the first sign of urban agitation, he could have brought in ALL HIS TROOPS to nip the resistance in the bud. with a much more massive troop presence in the cities, he could concievably even have succeded

as it played out, g misjudged badly. he focused on the wrong 'enemy' and allowed the movement to gain momentum, and by the time he reacted, it was too late

the maoist movement has been a wake-up call to the country

le chef du nuit, Nepal was ruled by Prime minister Elected by the People during 1996 to 2002, Maoists were fighting to replace such democratic system. I don't see how that means Maoists were fighting for freedom from Tyranny..

what we had was not true democracy
it was a generation of inept and corrupt politicians perpetuating the same old shit, with the urban masses getting in some fringe benefits

and those fringe benefits are exactly why most urbanites refuse to recognize that the maoist grievences were real greviences

it seeks to create a classless society

if we try gyane and his gang after the revolution (and i say we should), we have to try the maobaadi leadership as well. of course, deals are always made during trials - e.g. make a public apology and get a reduced sentence, etc.

Politicans were corrupt, during 1990s. that is true, however we had a democratic system where people could Vote out the parties they don't like and give opportunities to new politicians. I had freedom to vote any party I wanted. it was a democracy.

There were no restrictions in democracy that said you cannot create "Class less society". There is plenty of path to make reforms in a democratic system. (Social, political, econimical..whatver..) how can you think a nation has to turn into a communist state to make reforms??

If nepalese people reward the corrupts politicians by re-electing them again and again. that is not the fault of democracy. Those leaders may have been corrupt but they still came to parliament through ligitimate democratic process.
