Since I am in Nepal, I thought I should try to obtain the NRN Citizen, but looks like I am sort of a document. When going through the process, I found out that I need both US passport and US Citizenship certificate. I just brought my US passport but I do not have my citizenship with me. From what I see US passport should be enough but looks like they need both. I see people with British passport are good with just a passport only. Can people share their experiences and problems that they encountered when going through the process. And also if they were able to solve these problems as well.

Would they take a copy if someone from the usa scans and email you a copy of your natrulization certificate? I spoke with one of the contacts listed on nrna website and was told they would take a copy. Please go to nrna.org , a pop up comes up with some contacts info for nrna ctzp and see if one of them can help u. I spoke with Saroj Dahal ji from the list last week. Please dont forget to come back and share ur experience

The concept of document verification in Nepal is they always look for the original one and once they verify, they will give it back to you. Its safe to take all original government issued document such as Nagarikta, passport to avoid the hassle.

Kman, check thials vid out at 10:32 time stamp. He says his wife a used a copy in ktm. I know its like chewing bullets to explain things in Nepal but maybe try conviencing them. Maybe call home ministry like Khagendra ji recommends. https://www.facebook.com/nrnanccusa/videos/899131308229231/?app=fbl

@Ehho2 thanks for the video. I see it is a ongoing problem with lot of people, since this thing got into implementation just couple of months ago. I am sure moving forward people will already know what are the things they would need. I am trying to figure out if i can somehow get a copy of citizenship, or maybe somehow talk it out with people in the Kathmandu District Office.

Since you are already there why not just take the scanned copy and not even say anything that it's a copy. It's so hard to tell the difference between oroginal and copy natrulization certificate anyways unless they really feel the seal and check the watermakrs and other security features like US agents. If they still give hard time then i would try to convience them really hard and if that doesnt work may be call the nrna hot line and try to see if anyone could help. Even call home misinstry like khagendra ji was saying , i heard they have a speical desk assiged to help nrns.
