by LOCAL, i mean NOT fancy restaurants like in hotels, or even bakery cafe, nds, etc.

LOCAL = sekuwas, normal khaja pasals and so on.

"नेपाल गएर पनि त्यहाँ खान गएनस् भने तँलाई पाप लाग्छ" That is what one of my Nepali friends in the US had told me. I had never been there before.

Took the token, waited for order, and received it in a few minutes. The only available beverage was water from the plastic jugs that were oily, scratched, and stained. Needless to say, I was scared to drink that water. While the momos were indeed good, I had difficulty swallowing them. Finally, I went to a neaby store and ordered a coke to relieve my alimentary canal. :)) This was back in 1997, my first and last visit there.

Other places I miss are: Sekuwa pasals of Putali Sadak (rumors are that they use the charcoal from Pashupati), Valley Sweets of Ratnapark (not sure what happened after buildings were demolished, rumors were that they used to pump water directly from Ranipokhari).

The above rumors did not affect my loyalty to those establishments.

Lakhamari and barfi from the shop right across Honaachaa.

 

Just remembered a few more places:  Cafe de Corner, Jamal

Tripti (near Ranjana Hall), and the soda shop nearby. 

Outdoor establishments below Dharahara (mostly for Newari dishes)

 

 

I thought you were referring to Everest Momo at Naxal.

the most famous (and the oldest one i believe) is the first everest momo near old bus park, on the way to shanker dev campus (or to khasi bajar). there are about 3 everest momos in this line, but the first is the original one. i personally think that they produce the best momo in ktm.

other everest momo locations that are too famous are in naxal and thamel.

If you are traveling on winter time than that’s fine but try to avoid it during summer time.  I ate there last summer and I was sick for a week.  It ruined my Nepal trip. 

You will find the Everest Momos in all  gallis these days....and most of them are local but taste good though..

 

 

First time when I went nepal, I ate Everest Momo at chabahil and got sick. Next time I tried not to eat, but couldn't help myself went there anyway. I offered them extra money to cook more, they did but didn't take money and cooked extra time for me. I really enjoyed, didn't get sick.

i miss palpali bhojanalaya (putalisadak), lumbini bhojanalaya (opp. TC), bara pasal at bhaktapur durbar square, newa kitchen (banepa), putalisadak ko sekuwa pasals, shankerdev agaadiko chiya...

What about New Dish in khichapokhari. I miss that alot (pork momo and pork chilli)

Other one is Sumai in Teku and soondhara.  I use to go in soondhara Sumai Gangrain alot . They both are very famous for open momo. But i like fries, buff meatball, chicken chillies etc)

And C momo in New Road.

Samosas serves in leaf near bishar bazar.

Aagan ko Dosa n paan puri and other indian stuffs... just rt. side of Bishal Bazar.

Pustakari & gudhpaak near NRgate.

everest momo in Naxal is so far my favourite momo place. Then I like the samosa in Newroad that small galli near tiptop tailors. Airport ko sekuwa, and also Putalisadak ko sekuwa pasal haru. local resaturant ko tareko sukuti and chowmein. Good resaturant ko chicken chilli, papad, fries, tandoori chicken and kababs. chowmein. Wimpy ko Burger, Nirulas ko ice cream, Fire & Ice ko pizza. bishal bazaar aagadi ko paaanipoori, Pashupati ko bihana pakha ko aaloo ra poori. Budhanilkantha ko zeri ra swari, Patan ko chhoila, Boudha ko thukpa ra tungba, chyang. Bhaktapur ko Dhau baji ra GALCHI KO G.........i miss em all.
