Now that the king has given in to their demands, what will happen to the Maoists? What will happen to the Maoists now? Will they not be called terrorists anymore? Will they join the mainstream politics of Nepal? What will happen to the villages and places that are controlled by the Maoists? Who's going to be able to give the true answers?

Prachanda and Baburam will not give up power. They have more power than they can ever have any other way. They have also accumulated so much wealth and have mastered a system of extortion, killing, torture and fear. It does not matter what happens or how the political landscape changes they will not give up arms. If they do they know they cannot survive, the only way they can survive is through violence and fear.

Cautions! Maoist are turning back and trying to create more problems. They have done this type of things in the past and are trying to do this again. BE CAREFUL NOW!!! At one point they had agreed on the restoration of House and now “the party” which does not agree with the present constitution is question the legality of the King’s speech. One can easily imagine what they are trying to do. Is it so easy to deceive Nepali Janta?

. its just politics they have to placate the more radical factions that they are not giving in too easy and they have to show the mainstream parties that they too had a hand in this process, so 'dont hog the limelight' the blockades will be lifted once there is concrete decision on the constituent assembly because the reality is that there is a danger to the maoist leadership that if they agree right now: the more fanatical of their converts will see it as a betrayal of their fight. however, i see a complete resolution to the maoist insurgency if and only if the monarchy is abolished. communist brainwashing is very thorough. the more radical elements will continue to fight if this dosent happen. we can have a symbolic monarchy and maybe 2-3 years of diminishing violence, or we can say stuff the monarchy, the lives of people are more important i just hope we choose wosely

>>> however, i see a complete resolution to the maoist insurgency if and only if the monarchy is abolished. They have said that they will accept whatever constituent assembly decides. If they go back on their word people will no longer trust them...

. the one scenario that i am afraid of is this: assasination of top maoist leadership at the hands of fanatics, who will then raise these very people they murdered as 'martyrs to the cause', gain control of the maoist armies and continue a full scale insurgency

. brother, the nature of selling an ideology by brainwashing is such that frequently, the converts will be more fanatical than the converters. im not afraid of the top leadership. these are people who had the realization that an insurgency could be an effective force as long as they could point out the devil to their converts.. look, feudal monarchs who oppress you. without a monarch, there is no devil and conversion becomes that much more difficult. they will join mainstream politics the danger lies in the fact that there will be people so commited to the vision of a communist state that they cannot accept anything less. a republic might be enough to calm even some of these folks down but retaining the one symbol they were fighting against will be a complete let-down to these folks and besides, a large swath of the population dosent trust them now, hasnt stopped them they just see the unwillingness as mental slavery
