Do any Nepali falls victim of devastating Katrina ? Any news on that ?

there were few students in Tulane, but the last I heard was they all headed up north. We all are yet to find out the casualties in N'orleans. Gulfport-Biloxi is devastated...but no nepalese reside there.

Just last week, Katrina was no where in seight and I was in the bourbon street drinking hard. And now....

Is it true, US federal government is not enhancing a rescue effort as it suppose to be, since majority of the population affected are African American? I heard somewhere, but not sure how far it is true.

Pisces, your guess is wrong, more white and tourists are affected the same as black. Let's donate some of what you guys have. It is good to go through Sajha donation. More than 3 million people become homeless.......... think about that,,,,,,, the entire new Orleans City, and its vicinities that below the sea level fill up water....... there is no electric, no sanitation, no food and goods,,,,,,,,,,,,, still people are floating on water........

Looks like America can aid tsunami victims in South/South-East Asia, can send the military abroad to "fix" their country, can help earthquake victims in Iran/India, yet when it's time to help the American people at times of need, we come short. Bush goes on a month-long vacation, and decides to cut his vacation short, but he does manage to squeeze in one extra day before he decides he needs to chime in. And then we have the gougers increasing gas price like the world is gonna end. Even Wal-Mart has decided to help, but the big oil companies just don't give a flying fuk about America.

GALLANT...your screenname suits you! Maybe I'm mistaken, but you're the ONLY other person I've seen in here suggesting helping out victims of Katrina. NOT A PEEP from our venerable elites in here. I recall there was a somewhat more heartening response by sajha in the wake of last year's tsunami.

It would be nice to promote sajha through collective action. However, for quick action there is already a strong network of American Red Cross for emergency relief. There are many, but Red Cross is the one I have believed since I got to know about it 25 years ago. Let's give cash, clothes, food or blood, whatever we can. Well, once the mahem settles in a week or so, they need more blood to treat large number of patients. I hope Mr. President will divert some of the money set aside for war on something elsewhere, but I sure am donating blood once again in the name of Katrina victims.

What is happening to the abandoned animals after the hurricane?

Majority are african american people, and there are tourists too....Latest update says fires have been shot and people are mugged and raped.....very few people know that the vicinity of new orleans around french quarter area is more dangerous than the suburbs of DC and detroit.... it has been a very pronounced sanctuary over the years for dope peddlers, drug lords, muderers, rapists and prostitutes. There has been an absolute anarchy in N'orleans.....further fueled by those bad elements.

Just praying for the humble souls who are trapped there along with some animals. shall blow a trumpet if the troops arrive for aid.
