I think it's kind of hard to drown the economy when it was already on the way down.
The economy starting tanking on Clinton's final year.
There was nothing Bush or any other President (including Clinton) could do.
Do you really think creating more gov. jobs or more tax breaks could have slowed it?
The dot-com era caused cooking books and investment bank deceits along with false stock option riches.

That being said.
I think Bush has made a mockery of the presidency.
It's all about how you handle yourself. "Meet the Press" interview was an example.
With all the baggage with Clinton, look at him now....respected guy(Loved his boston speech). Even Reagan should have been impeached for that Iran-contra.
But he was too well respected (or senile).
For Bush, they made a movie to belittle him for eternity.
I am votig for Kerry. The lesser of the two evils.

As for the reason as to why the Republican convention is being held in New York, I would recommend you to read an article in the latest edition of The Economist which attempts to answer that same question. taini, i would like to tell you, why i would and hundreds of middle class, minorities and poeple WITHOUT VERY DEEP KNOWLEGDE LIKE YOU IN ECONOMY, think Bush drowned the economy....since he has taken the office there has been jobs cut outs, his tax cuts aint helping any of us, and his PRomise to create more jobs has lost its way on the wilderness....and yes many many bad things has happened since Bush took the administration, from 9/11 to the biggest budget deficit in US history..

to summarize what i said, there is no need of big Specialist like you telling me what Bush didnt do, or it wasnt his fault, when he took the office and swore on the constitution he was responisble to do better for this country, not sit down and take vacations....
