come to work, worried if I will have enough work, if not what will happen if they decide to let me go..Still got to make my car payments, have already committed upon my masters. But with this uncertainty I don’t know anymore if its worth spending all my paycheck on it or should I have just saved the money. Feel like I do not belong here. Its been 12 years I been here and still I am not able to adjust. Went back home 2 years ago and for a month I felt like there is where I belonged…even after I went back after such a long time..i was so comfortable and so happy..i did not want to think about going back to states..to be with my family..with my school frens.. who actually care it was just so amazing..maybe its because I was there on a vacation and was all fun all the time I don’t know but I was just soo happy….its not like I don’t go vacations here. Here vacations are even more beautiful, going to beaches, staying on a resort but its not the same..aafno desh aafno manche aafno culture bhaneko aarkai hudo rahecha..bholi parsi bhanda bhanda its been more than a decade. I am making more money that I could ever make in Nepal but what is the point? Life just feels so empty and fake..I know people say I am young and I should be ambitious..yo bela nai ho kaam garney etc etc..you are too young to think that way etc etc..but why do I have to waste the ONE LIFE I have here away from happiness. What about my parents. They sacrificed so much for me. Yeah of course they say they want better life for ourselves, but is staying overseas, away from them, does this make them happy?

Had a fren who went back even without a degree and now he owns two business drives a better car than what I drive here. But how do I know if I can attain the same success. But kaile kai ta [Disallowed String for - bad word] this sh!t jasto lagcha. I am from a well established family. Have my own home in Kathmandu and 2 other home we can do rentals completely. But then whats the point of all my studying. Atleast I have got to make some earning before I go back right? Also I cant imagine myself living over the rent and doing nothing. If I go back, will I be able to find job. Pani chaina batti chaina we all know that but day by day I am starting to feel like even then I do not care. I want to be my own home with my own people. But I am very very scared I may regret it because I am on a career path but at the same time I just feel like [Disallowed String for - bad word] it sometimes. Khai k eke. Its Friday so just wanted to vent it out.

You create your own job and employ few too. Don't ask other to give you job.
With 3 homes in kathmandu wow, you will get plenty of loans from bank to start your own business.

For electricity and water there are renewable alternative resources. Survival of the fittest.

You can do all the following things if you go back with american degree dude. more more than this.

The only thing you will have in USA is a house, a car, a bank balance,
No family (not even your children after 18) and friends around when you need them. They will be around only for party.

 MNO

thanks for sharing the link.

"The only thing you will have in USA is a house, a car, a bank balance,

Couldnt agree more on your above sentence. Life is very materialistic here and friends are pretty much there for parties only and once they have something going on in their lives, they feel like untouchables!

Bajara

I would tell you to go back. With having own house to live and a couple of others for rentals, you should be okay. Use the rental propertys money as emergency money. Water is no problem inn Kathmandu if you can spend 500-1000, you will have your own underground water system. Electricity is no problem wither, spend about 3000 in solar energy and you will have the luxury to watch TV, use laptops even when there is no electricity.Life goes on buddy, as it has for many of our relatives back home.

Dont forget to network with people who have returned from abroad. There are a few groups on facebook as well. Dont forget to save some money when you return back since you will need funds for the rainy days as well as for initial survival. Make sure you have enough money to buy a motorbike in Neppal and for other necessities to last for about a year.

Life will definitely be hard to adjust but the happiness will neutralize the physical sorrow.

thanks guys for suggestions. I dont want to go back and just live off rent. I want to do something. I wanna open up a business possibly with a friend because I do not have any knowledge or links. But like i said before I feel scared sometimes to take such a huge risk to leave what i have here. Sometimes I think maybe I wanna earn atleast for another 4-5 years. I could use my house rent money as savings and use what i save here as capital for business. that would be ideal but problem here is the job is just so unstable. I spent like what 40-50k for my undergrad and 25k for grad, atleast need to earn that back. But thanks guys for your input, good to know i am not the only one

so true i feel the same way living here for 13+ yrs.. the more i stay , the more i realize i am different..yes if you have financial security in Nepal it's not worth staying here.. look at ur situation, you're still making payments in car, in hosue, etc.. so those things are actually not even yours they are owned by your bank and bank is okay as long as you make your payments, but jobs in usa is not secure for anyone. so you're always living in an insecurity that you may lose what you already have. lets say everything went ok and u finally were able to pay off your house car etc.. then you are 50-60 and already have lived most of your life isolated from what you like. and now you have whole different sets of problems to deal with. eg, Your Nepalicane son/daughter will you yelling at you Daaddd shuttt up...i hate you.. and they don't give a damn about your property back home. or your sister/brother etc have claimed ur property. etc etc.. well things might not be that worse... but you know what i mean..if you're single you should definately go back.. i would go in a heartbeat if i were single and with no kids...and evferyone should be aware of next big bubble burst, of education loan..watch this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iQpodOX4-7Q

How old r u? And r u married? If u r what does your spouse have to say about it? And if you are not married why not? Marriage may help emptiness in your life if u find the right person regardless of where you live here or Nepal .
I go back every year and enjoy every second of my time there but I won't be able to settle back there.
I do think if you are going to go back you should make sure you have a way to come back if you want to. Knowing that there is that option for you even if you don't come back will make things easier for u.

Americans are sending their children to study medicine to Asian countries and carrebian due to high US education cost.
So Nepalese who are staying here for their children future , dream on your childrens college education in USA. Hope your american born children don't  have to go back to Nepal to study medicine. Back to Mangalman at last.
Outsource your American  children :)

See the full video posted by pshrestha78. Very true.

I have not seen this video but most of the 'out sourcing' for education as you mentioned is specific to medical education . Cost is certainly an issue for that but also length of study by studying abroad one can save some time as well to get the degree. But, most of the peoole who are going outside are doing it because they are unable to get into medical schools here. To go to to study outside all you need is money to pay for it. But to get into medical school here you have standardized tests etc.

Open a college fund as soon as your kid is born. Don't have more than one kid if you cannot afford their college fund. Open a retirement as soon as you start earning. Common Sense.

Are you pursuing the Indian dream?

A nightclub DJ plays a set in Mumbai

A nightclub DJ plays a set in Mumbai. But although he has Indian origins, Anil Chawla was born and raised in the UK, and moved to India in search of better opportunities.

Indian immigrants have had a major impact on business, society and culture in countries such as Britain and the US, but now many of their children and grandchildren, like Anil, are moving in the opposite direction.

In recent years, India has become a magnet for young aspiring professionals, particularly those of Indian origin, who are trying to escape western economic woes.

The growth in India's economy is slowing down, but people continue to flock there. The number of Britons applying for lifelong visas has soared, and immigration offices in major cities are always packed.

In a complete reversal of the story of the last 50 years, some are even sending money back to their families in the West.

I have had this discussion with several of my kuire colleagues about how most of the us coming from Asian countries to get higher degrees (perhaps not so much for those coming for undergrads) are free of loans and that it is better off getting MBBS in some asian country and fight to be a doctor here rather than get it all here at costs by no means are comparable.

Some people want GC so that they don't get visa issues coming into america anytime. A lot of youth want to go back but they are not able to gather courage to go back to their native land.
