I want decent suggestion on what to do on OPT. My OPT has just started and time is just passing on. I am worried my 3-month unemployment period will end in next two and a half month.
Do I go to consultancy at this situation or keep searching for job unless 1-year OPT ends?
The most bad problem is I am running out of money to support my monthly expenses. Please guys, decent suggestions wanted.

You can start volunteer, paid or unpaid internship to save your 90 days time period. You have to work at least 21 hours on your major field of study. start with an internship and keep searching for jobs. Never quit. Best thing is keep in touch with your international director.

If you can't find an internship then start with a volunteer job. Join a consulting agency or any sort of company and get a proof of employment. Notify your international office about your employer and in the mean time keep looking for the real job.

That's absolutely right. You can switch job any number of times during OPT, only thing is that you have to notify your international program office (DSO) every time you do. During switching job you get 10 days or so grace period which also does not counts towards the 90 days period (please confirm this from an official source.) Also just for the records, the 90 days unemployment period is not only at the beginning of the opt start, it's 90 days at any interval of time in between that 12 months. Just want to make it clear that after spending your 60 days you get a job and then later you switch to another company does not means you have more 90 days, you have your 30 days left :). thanks,

Thanks guys for big suggestions. Does anyone have any idea about consulting agencies anywhere in big cities like new york, virginia, boston, san francisco, phoenix, dallas, houston, atlanta or any other big city?

There are literally thousands of consulting firms in each of the big cities you mentioned. Check out http://goolti.com/ http://www.sulekha.com
