Nepal government started distributing NRN ID Cards today. It is good for 10 years for Nepali folks who have foreign passport, and good for 2 years for those Nepali holding Nepali citizenship. NRN defined as those living outside of SAARC countries. Those working for Nepal missions aboard and students are excluded. ID Cards holders are expected to invest in Nepal. Reports has that 90 percent of those 'bideshi Nepali' hold Nepali passport and remaining 10 percent are Nepalis holding bideshi passport. 500 US dollar needed for 10 year permit, and 250 dollars for 2 year permit. Let's discuss this new program and how it can help boost investment in Nepal. After this card, my guess is that dual citizenship will come, but Nepali beuarocrats will closely watch the success of this program, based on which dual citizenship may or may not be decided. Well, just my two cents.....On, one can get the card from foreign ministry in Nepal and Nepali embassies outside of Nepal.
