Hi Guys,

I am in h1b visa, and I want to change my status to F1. My school advisor asked me to write a letter to the USCIS stating why do I want to change my status. I was wondering if  anybody has a sample of that letter?

Thanks in advance.

Pralaya,

Do you need to send paystub with letter? what are the other things that you are sending to change the status?

Thanks!

I got a checklist from my advisor.

Sevis-I20, Letter from student, I-539 application, I-90 Fee payment receipt, Verified copy of I-94 (front and back), Copy of passport, Copy of visa, Evidence of validity of the H-1 status, proof of financial support, acceptance letter from University.

I am not sure whether you have to submit the paystubs or not. He asked me to write a letter from the employer stating that I am working with them and I am in status. I do have paystubs too. But, I don't know I need it or not.

Have anybody changed their status from h1b to F1 recently. I was wondering what do you need to mention in the letter that you have to write to the USCIS.

Dear Pralaya

Below is a sample for the change of status.

The other option is to seek for H-1B Transfer, I am sure you have explored this opportunity already.

Thank you very much Mr. Santosh Giri .And thanks a lot for dipulata. I got your email and it was really helpful. Thanks again. But Dipulata, I came in the US as a student, not as a H1B. I applied for H1B here in the US. And nepalkohoro, I applied H1B through general quota, not from masters quota. But, I am done with my masters too.

I am doing the masters on the second concentration. I guess it would be better to go for higher degree( University) rather than going to some community colleges. You can also join for some different concentration on your masters degree.
