Sathiharu,

If you get laid off while you are on H1 status, what is your grace period before you can find another job and have your H1 transferred? And how do you get the H1 transferred to a new employer? Please let me know. Thank you.

I think you have 30 days but not so sure. If I were you, I would transfer my H1 immediately to one of the dhoties company. Thay way your status will be saved....

Good luck..!!!

sorry to be the bearer of bad news :
a. there is no grace period.
b. its better to find sponsoring employment as soon as possible

for h1b transfer you would need to attach your last 2 recent pay-stubs so
depending on your pay period [ if you can file transfer within a month ] you would be safe.

pushing beyond 2 month is risky but i have seen people who have had their transfer approved after 3 months.(just 1)

but mostly after 1.5 months gap you would start getting rfe
