Great News, for all Sajhaites who are lover of DEMOCARCY & FREEDOM:
USA declared on May 6th that for them Maoists are still TERRORISTS!
Please Read, nepalnews.com May 6th 2008:
There's no change yet in Nepali Maoists' status: US official
A senior government official the United States has said there is "no change" in the status of Nepal's Maoists, who are listed in the US terror watch list.
"I don't think there's any change. There's no change in their status," PTI news agency quoted State Department spokesperson Sean McCormack as saying. He was commenting on the issue in the backdrop of a meeting last week between US ambassador to Nepal Nancy J Powell and Maoist chairman Prachanda.
McCormack added, "There's a particular listing. And I don't have in front of me what exactly what it is, but at this point there's no change."
The State Department spokesperson's clarification comes amid expectations that the Maoists might soon be removed from the terror list with the latter emerging as the largest party after the recent constituent assembly polls.
Besides, the Prachanda-Powell meeting on May 01 marked the starting of formal contacts between the Maoist party and the US government.
The US had listed the CPN (Maoist) as a terrorist organisation in 2004 nepalnews.com mk May 07 08

This isn't any great news. Besides, the US government will STILL be continuing with its programs in Nepal regardless of the status of the Maoists.
I'd say at this point it doesn't really matter what US thinks of the Maoists. They've got a lot of bridges to build, both literally and metaphorically.

Not a good news. I come from a country where majority elected Maoists for a new constitution and who are yet considered terrorists.

Maoists should not, atleast yet, be cleared of the "terrosist" tag by the US because just by winning the election with a majority does not in any way mean that they have denouncedtheir radical principles and extremist thinking. Just by Prachanda's statements that they will be an example to the world that they will work for a democratic country with economic freedom, nothinggood happens to the country or the people. They should first prove what they say: create ademocratic country where all the rights and freedom of people are protected. And they shouldcontrol their YCLs who are still using their muscles and are continuing intimidation, forceful acts, extortions, etc. If the terrorist tag is taken off now, it will be like a free license for them to do whateverthey want; it will be like they are good in the International image and that they cannow run the country in whatever way they can.So, this is a good news!

If we, as Nepali still want the world to call them terrorist, why the hell we elected them, instead of wiping them out in election when we had a chance? I think there are technical issues to remove them from the US terrorist list and I don't expect they will do so soon (I was surprised to know that Nelson Mandela is still in US terrorist list). But eventually they will have to remove it and they will.

pyari kt...its easy to say but difficult to do...if maoist are terrorist than wht the hell u think u are...everyone in this country is kukur....everyone want a change...u are also fighting against the nepali goverment for some reason....democracy or removing of king gyanendra was not done by congress...they still wish monarchy...was u in that gathering....have u seen the guys in the front with the small stick....those were maoist...do u know why all the people except kathmandu valley were in the gathering..coz maoist pleaded everyone that one man from one house..if maoist were not over there...still u would be unable to make a call to the cellphone of ur family..still paras will be running over people...u have to stay in jam..coz some royal families were travelling...who is girija...who is makune..they all are the slave of gyanendra...why the us doesnt remove maoist from terrorist..there is some issue for that......unless someone here from sajha is a family of some f@cking poilitcan of nepal....everyone is in the revolution....who did robbery...maoist...why they did....try to understand...have u seen indians in nepal using goverment money...millions of rupees are lost everyyear in country coz of the corruption and maximum amount of this money is going to india...so go and calculate....how much money maoist have robbed in last year and how much money is going after corruption...so who is robber...atleast all those money robbed by maoist is still in the country....we can get them..go and calculate the money of politician...u gonna be tired of counting...atleast if someone educated want to run the country go and support them...give them advice...throw ur knowledge..dont try to pull their legs like those politician....be nepali....abhibadan....maobadi jindabad....prachandapath jindabad...inqalab...

Roker ji,
Thats ur perspective....I agree...but for yor kind information, Maoists (Terrorists) do not pleaded on epeople fromeach house...they itimidated, they forced and told that if one person from each home is not there, they will kill other member of the family...That is why they were there...and for your information, I know there was high involvement of Maoists (Terrorists) but other parties equally supported them...so forget that these terrorists could do anything better in the country....so you are proud that Maoists (Terrorists) looted less money than the politicians???? I don't say you are wrong but what is yor mentality?? Since other politicians were involved in corruption, now its time for Maoists (Terrorists) to be involved in corruption??Ani you thin kMaoiss (Terrorists) are educated??lol thats the best joke of the day....except couple who are leading the party, expect them to pass class 3...dude...so MAOISTS WERE ARE AND WILL BE TERRORISTS.....Good job US....Its my thinking.....

For America, everyone is terrorist who don't agree with its view. It is not necessary that everyone must agree to USA. Everyone is free to disagree like US can disagree with Nepali Maoist. US should not forget that Nepali Maoists are democratically elected and largest politcal party now. If US policy is "democratic" (?), it must honour Nepali Maoist and the mandate of Nepali people, there is no second choice ! As far as not lifting the "terrosist tag" is concern, I don't think it makes any significant difference to Nepal. Rather Nepal will have less dependency on US and at the same time less interferance in Nepal too. I take it positively. US needs Nepal for its vested interests like Nepal need US for assistance. It is just a thought. Feel free to disagree.

People who kill people are terrorists. I don't give a damn what anyone says or does. My heart will weep forever for my innocent brothers and sisters who lost their lives to put few of "uneducated, old fashioned, stale Chinese philosophic killers to power. I will never lift that title from the Maoist.

I had gone through a article, in telegraphnepal.com that said that " U.S was in embarresing position still having "terriorist tag" on officially elected party". U.S ambessador to nepal Ms. Nancy J. Powel hinted that this tag will be removed after solving some technical difficulties.
I don't really support most of the things they are doing. But on the other hand, I was surprised to see how much nepalese people were frustrated with other parties.
But, I do think U.S will remove the terriorist tag, after some months, as they have been officially elected by nepalese people.
Lets see what happens !

as far as i know, Nelson Mandela and other members of ruling party in S.Africa are still in terrorist list of US
so, dont know how long the maoists have to wait, and i m curious,
maoist considered US and India there greatest enemy and they wanted to see the downfall of these powers and now Prachanda is trying to please Powell and Rakesh Sood, and why should maoist even care that they are in terrorist list of US,
dont know whats going on here
as i m also a true nepali like most of us here, who ran away when my country was in need of me,who was not there to vote for the party i wanted to, and now i m vomiting my bitterness about the party which garnered the most votes
remind me of the song , " ma yesto chu ma usto chu, ......... jasto bhaye ni ma dami chu" he he

nepali kt,
as far as u think maoist are less educated it true...most of the soldiers are not educated...most of them are someone suffered from goverment....as they even dont have teacher in their school in their village..thats why they are uneducated..go and see the schools...if u think abt past...talk with some teachers posted for the villages of rolpa and dolpa,,gorkha and dhading....u will know they only take their salary...but never been to school..so abt the money...who is using all those money of looted..those poor nepalese....not in switzerland and not in india...so u want to know abt the mass gathering...i understand they threaten..but wht reason u think is behind this...it was not to kill someone...it was for good reason...we all were tired of gyanendra...and they threaten them...stilll people dont take it as threating...they take it easily..i dont know why u hate maoist...they want to iimprove nepal...they got reason for that...they are better than girija and makune...they are educated..they have come from poor family...why u think everyone is suppporting obama over here...because he knows wht poverty is and how it feels to be in medium family..same with maoist..none of them are from family where everyone used to be politician..they all want to be politician...coz they wanna do sth..so i know i will support them...either the us remove them or not

It's going to be funny to watch all the "Moist" (like they've got Pudding in the Mix?) sheeple scramble for feel-good rationales to excuse their beloved terrorists' failure to lead after winning the election.
