BY RAMESH CHANDRA ADHIKARI

DHANKUTA, May 25 - In a rare incident, a couple in Dhankuta Municipality-2 tied the knot a second time Wednesday, 50 years after being divorced from each other.
Kamal Bahadur Ghimire of Syaule was 32 when he divorced his 28-year-old wife Indira Karki, following a minor dispute.

When the two were re-wed amid a function, seven sons and a daughter, grand and great-grand children, scores of locals, and even some journalists were present to wish them "a happy conjugal life".

"We decided to spend the remaining portion of our lives together rather than alone," said an elated "third-time-groom" Ghimire, now 82, describing the turn of events as "dramatic deeds of the Almighty".

Following their divorce, Ghimire had married another wife while Karki was determined to remain single and dedicated to her former husband. Karki, who was two months pregnant then, is now the proud mother of a 48-year-old son. Ghimire has sired five sons and a daughter from his second wife.

The divorced couple said they had not even seen each other during the entire 50-year-period since the split, let alone meeting or talking to each other.

"I had almost forgotten her as I was living with my family quite afar," Ghimire said. "An unexpected meeting last year rekindled our love, albeit after such a long gap," he disclosed.

After that "milestone meeting", the couple decided to renew their marriage vows as both of them were feeling quite lonely lately. Prior to their meeting, Ghimire's second wife had been killed in a road accident.

During the marriage function, the children of the bride and the bridegroom, who surrounded the duo, could be seen in a jolly mood.

"We are reveling in our parents' happiness," said Ghimire's third son, Purna Bahadur.

"It's an example of true love materializing on earth," said Himadevi Basnet, chairman of the District Bar Unit, hinting at Karki's sacrifice.
LOVE WILL RETURN ANY TIME...................

I don't know what to make of this. It seems that people are happy about the situation but it basically made me mad. I could not imagine what Ms. Karki had to go through all these years after the divorce. He remarried few times so he was not exactly feeling for her. That Ghimire is one selfish a-hole in my books.

But hey, if she is willing to forgive and move ahead then who are we to judge????
