These days more and more nepali teenagers have boyfriends and girlfriends. But the key question here: is it necessary that their other half also be nepali??

I don't think it really matter if it is a short term relationship. If it is a long term one, then cultural differences could come in, so you'll need to learn how to handle those. More later :)

LOL captian bro that was really funny "I don't think it really matter if it is a short term relationship." couldn't agree more with you though. the cultural difference is huge!! if your partner doesn't take much interest in your culture you feel unappreciated (something along that line...couldn't come up with the exact word) or on the other hand if your partner takes too much interest in your culture, you get annoyed trying to explain every darn thing....know what i'm sayin LOL

This darned thing is becoming an addiction! :) Maybe that 25-post limit was a good thing afterall :P Hukka_Nepali - He he he ... true, innit? The dynamics are vastly different if you are seeking merely someone's company or friendship versus their love, no? :) A couple of other thoughts: - What matters most is you are at peace with who you are - mentally, emotionally and physically. If you have doubts about your identity when you commit to *any* long term relationship, let alone a cross-cultural one, there is a fair chance you could face substantial problems down the line. At least that's what I think. - Also, if a relationship is cross cultural and the people involved grew up under different economic circumstances, there is a good chance such people might confuse any economic issues they run into with cultural ones. It is important to differentiate the type of issue because you need to apply different sets of tools to deal with these two separate issues. I don't have the stats to back this up but I have seen many inter-class marriages facing the same challenges as inter-caste ones. The sad thing is class and caste/race oftentimes run along the same lines and sometimes when this is the case, the couple don't feel the need to separate the cultural differene from the economic one because it may sound snobbish to do so or it may make one of them feel little. In the process, they can miss out on the opportunity to accept, process, embrace and finally put aside these differences. That said, I am all for people reaching out across class, caste and racial lines whether it is just to date or to spend your life with. All I'd say is know yourself before you try to know someone else and it wont matter whether they are Nepali or not! :) My 2 pennies.
