Prachanda is suggesting that entire Nepali should get 5 years Mandatory army training. Did not he say that we do not need such big army? Now he wants every one to be in army? I just do not understand these Maoists! http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/south_asia/5105250.stm DB

There are quite a few countries who require military service of all citizens. Singapore and Switzerland are among those. Whether it may or may not be good idea, should this decision come to fore, it certainly needs to be debated and put onto referendum rather than be dictated by Prachanda.

I am for military training atleast for a year to establish discipline in youths and yes prepared youths for various nation building activities. We haven't reach that level of education or economic progress where a year in compulsory service will rob time out of something beneficial. Trainings like traffic control, rescue in accidents, natural calamity, conservation will inject sense of responsibility. This will also increase interaction and sense of equality, where by interactions of young minds can open up oppertunities for fruitful professional pursuit. That will also gurantee, compulsory registration of births and health check up of youths in their adolscent stage and a way for a strong and discipline crop of generations to build the new Nepal. We should admit one thing that we from the generation of misused democracy failed solely for lack of discipline and responsibility. A chance is here again, and what we do with it will be judged downstream.

Ok guys i am not getting this: 1.everybody should serve in army mandatory bacause solves unemployment???? - this is the funniest logic, i have heard in while. Instead for promoting industies and agriculture , make people army?? 2. Army solves decipline problems of the youth? - anothe funny logic. Instead of investing in overall development of youth thru education you want to teach them how to fight.Isn't it already enought they use swords and knife when fighting!give them work .show them there is future if they study , then they will stop buring tyres in the street or throwing stone in the hospitals.Change the mentality in positive way .Force is not the solution.yes they may change during their army period but after that noone can gurantee how they will become. 3.Israel has it so we need to have? are we in same situation as isreal. And your prachanda wants 25 miilion army why? so that we can attack india or defend our self?Think logically todays war are not army driven war like it used to be decades ago.We do not have capablity to defend ourself from india and china. And guys they will never take us so don't play this fear game. Why not take good aspect from isreal good farming techiniques.NOt army techniques. 4. whole world is going for peace and eliminating army and we need more army the poorer country we are we need more money in defense that is so funny. well guys you are welcome to go and join army but you have no right to dictate that other should do the same!!

On one hand prachanda asks to downsize the Nepal Army saying they can't fight india or US, and on other hand he wants to increase the Maoist Army. The guy needs to get his act straight.

We live in a country where more than 80 percent of the youth start smoking and drinking at in their early teens. All the vigilantes who happen to be students for somehow they manage to register at the government colleges and their activities are responsible for each and every unnecessary unrest and chaos in Nepal. Every cafe, bhattis and restaurants are filled with retards on their mid-thirties and above who somehow manage financially to drink up the whole stock over the night with their sweatening faces and immovable fat a$$es. (Not to mention their itchy noses, ears, armpits, balls and toes at the same time as if they are under great unease because their main worries are why Brahmans have all the power, why all Newars are rich and why can't everybody be as simple, natural and friendly as the Mongols). Despite of having the ability of thinking and talking, over the time, that abiliy results to nothing due to the extreme laidbackness and retardation. Hardwork, discipline and gaining some control over the behaviour, whether you do it or someone else does it for you, has become mendatory in order to produce logical, practical outcome for the existing generation of our country. A lot shall be lost and gained in a revolution or the process of building a nation. Prachanda's implication might either be Nazification or Israelification of Nepal but I don't see anything wrong in neither of those. No one is dumb enough to predict he is building an army to invade India or to gain military power as a result of his plan's execution. What's wrong in it, you get paid, develop your skills, gain strength and above all, you will get disciplined. I will tell my dad, uncle, friends and brothers and sisters to go join the army if the plan gets executed. Sahila.

i think its really dumb to have a MANDATORY thing. Where are our rights? (american talks ma)..anyways, even in everyday situation, I used to have israeli frens in my high school who had to take one n a half yrs off of school because they had to go n serve in the army....it was sad to see and know that their lives were uncertain - "maybe we'll meet in the US during our colleges"...its scary to even imagine if we had to go through that...

Dear BB, Although ur nick sounds like an intellegent person, i think ur missing the point. Even in US, ur rights are not guaranteed. Have u heard of drafts in US. If the US government needs its people to go fight for them no citizens can say no. They will be forced to fight as well. They will get u out of ur house train u and dump in the war. I am not trying to support the agenda of mandatory 5 years millatary training. But just to enlighten u a lil, many countries use this practice of millatary training for their population. I personally dont like it. Because i am totally against army of any kind and any purpose. But most nations do it because youths of the nation can be mobilized when needed. No need to get arooung and train them when needed. It is not just only training, most countries educate their young ppl during this process as well, It can be seen as staying physically fit, learning skills and dicipline that could be helpful for ur real life and making urself ready for the nation if needed. And if the nation takes the burdon of educating the young ones with the millatary training. Most nation and its ppl support that. I am only responding to ur " in american talks ma" where are my rights" 5 years of millatary rights are no worse or better off than american rights. The only difference betn prachanda's idea and american idea is Prachanda says we will train u now and US says we will train u when we need u. Just stay ready for us.

5 years of mandatory military traning!!!!!!!!!! You must be kidding. We do not need any more bheda-bakhras. We have tons of them. We need people who can use their brains and take responsibilities and make decisions. We don't need people who only know how to take orders and act on it.

Israel, Switzerland, singapore are vunrable countries. Switzerland is even mountanous landlocked country, a beautiful one like Nepal. Swerzerland fought its last battle in 16th century and after that it has not been involved in any international issues, not in 2nd world war even when it was a neighbor of Germany, it is not even a member of UN. but who have saved Switzerland so far? of course it's people. they have mandatory army training since 15th century. Mandatory training not only saves the country, but also saves its people's lives since they become more healther physically and mentally and safer as well. It adds up some motion on our bloods to build our nation and ourself. Even until few decades ago, USA adopted the policy. It is even more important for landlocked countries like Nepal. It seems to be the best option to save ourself and our country: It is just Prachanda's demand for now, but should be the demand of every Nepalis. Mentally and physically healthy people can do any thing for themselves and for their nation. However, it should be the matter of intense debate before implementing it.
