Has anyone form our sajhaities applied for green card through national interest waiver as a researcher in natural science ? I will be also glad to know from sajha's lawyers !!

A lawyer, of Nepali origin but with specific expertise in NIW petition will review your questions and credentials. Remember, of all the immigration petitions NIW petitions are the hardest and require the services of the most competent lawyer.

Since you are on the forum, why don't you post all the details about your own here first, Svengali? After all, competent lawyers are happy to share info. See, for example, there are hundreds of them online like murthy.com and so on (I don't mean to discourage svengali or recommend murthy). I am not at that stage yet. Nor seeking national interest waiver. Wow, sounds like you guys have Ph.D.s and what not and likely will win a Nobel one day for Nepal, oh no USA, chchchchhh since you are applying for green card!!!! Too bad for Nepal and us poors here!!!!!

I had posted this in the other thread that is now relegated into immigration section of sajha. EB2 = National Interest Waiver.

With EB2, you can get your green card in as early as 6 months. And, you get your work permit within 2 months. That's what I understand from a friend who got his this way.

BUT

Make sure you have PhD from a good reputable school in an in-demand subject, preferably hard science such as Chemistry, Physics, Biology, etc. Also, it helps if you have a job offer and a recommendation letter from one of the national labs or relevant government agencies.

It doesn't really matter where your Ph.D. is from or what subject/area of study it is. If you have a job offer from a research/reputed university or research lab/government agency, you are fine. The job offer has to be in your area, of course, they won't hire you as a professor/researcher in an unrelated area any way. Best, tenure-track professor position, and your chances are 100%. A friend of mine had a Ph.D. from an Indian univ., did a post-doc at a US state university for three years, had a tenure-track offer from another state university (not top 20, but still research and teaching doctoral degree-granting university), appllied for greeen card and got it in four and half months this April. He had some good journal publications also in his field. By the way, he is in social science, so the hoopla like you need to have degree in hard sciences is just bogus!
It's that simple if you have a good job offer and some publications. Then, you can also file for EB1/ outstanding researcher/professor. The friend I was talking about filed under both categories and was approved for both. Lucky of him.
