I am sharing my recent H1B stamping experience in Kathmandu in details. Hope it helps you guys. Here's how my interview went -
VO: Good morning.
Som: Good morning. How are you?
VO: Can I see your passport?
(I handed him the passport)
VO: Let me see your I-797 letter (Original).
(I handed him the I-797)
VO: Who is your employer?
Som: XX
VO: What does your company do?
Som: Its an IT consulting firm.
VO: Who is the current client you are working for?
Som: XX
VO: How much do you make?
Som: XX
VO: What did you study in school?
Som: XX
VO: Okay, I have approved you Visa. You will be contacted to collect your passport by next week.
I scheduled the interview date 3 weeks in advance from here itself. Once you create your profile in US Travel Docs, it will generate a payment slip that you can email to your family back home. They can take it to any Investment bank branch and make the payment after which you will be able to complete scheduling the interview date online.
I took all the documentations as suggested by my agency but all that the VO asked for was my I-797.
I received my passport back in 5 business days.
Once in H1B, you will be categorized as a foreign worker for which you will have to receive permission/insurance from Shram Karyalaya. Make your way to Solti Mod as early as possible (I believe they open at 6am in the morning) as this place will be crowded with people. Don't forget to take all your passports, PP size photo, contract paper and around 4000 NRs. While returning, don't forget to get it stamped one more time at the TIA. You can see shram desk as soon as you enter from Gate A.
Background: Currently working for a client. Did my Bachelors in Computer Technology.
Good luck to all those who are going for stamping.
