I am planning to go Ottawa,Canada in January 2015 to visit a friend. I need to go to embassy for H1B stamping to return back to US. I have been working as a IT consultant in a Desi company for more than 2 years, and with the same end client for almost 2 years. I have few concerns listed below. Please answer based on your personal experience.

· How long do I have to be present in Canada?

· Is it easier to get stamping in Ottawa, Canada or my own country (Nepal)? (I would rather get stuck in Nepal for couple of weeks than in Canada for further visa interrogation.)

· Do I need to present my tax return document to the Visa counselor, or would W2 suffice?

Is this still allowed? USCIS published a notice few months ago saying it will not be allowed any more. I do not know the exact date though.

btw, how about giving a ring to the US embassy in canada to get the info on suspension of visa stamping for the 3rd party country?
I would do so if I have to get the visa stamping. However, unlucky me, I am already a citizen. :)

I have been trying to find that link but have not been able to. It was actually related to a lot of indians going to Jamaica for H1b stamping so USCIS had planned to forbid going to 3rd country for h1b stamping . It had to be home country and it was mentioned they were going to implement same with canada. So i am just saying make sure it is not the case by calling uscis.

This has always been the case. So, you can either take your chances in Canada or just try it back at home in Nepal.

That page is more for people who wants to visit US under tourist visa, and who will be travelling to US for the first time. Thanks Anywayz.

As far as I know, if you have a US degree then you can do stamping in Canada. However, if you have a degree from another country, you have to go to your home country for stamping.
