someone deleted the thread - not very polite. most sajhagoers check 'kurakani'. thus, I posted on both. my post was - why would USCIS require biometrics for status change such as f1-f2 and visa-vis? a simple question begging for simple answer. pls respond if someone knows the answer. would be a great relief.

 They conduct FBI criminal background check. Hope that clears it up.

 thanks riddle. however, my understanding was FBI background check is for green card holders applying for citizenship.
