easy to remember
no tones (chinese singers don't care about the tones)
helps you to learn the colloquial chinese
plus, helps you find your gf
also gives you a reason to go to those kara-ok places for singing and drinking

but most of all,

it helps you learn the characters without having to memorize them.

This is from one of the greatest Hindi movies I have ever seen, Pyasa , by Guru Dutt, one of the most talented Indian movie makers. Rumours have it that he once challenegd Nehru - He will make 5 movies and half of the Indian population will be communist. He did make two movies- Saheb Bibi aur Ghulam and Pyasa- in his 5 movies series, and if it wasn't for his untimely death, he would have probably made the other 3 too. The movie was made when India was debating whether to choose Capitalism or Socialism/Communism as its official ideology. Guru Dutt and early Raj Kapoor made movies which portrayed the then Indian intellectuals' tilt towards Russian style Socialism/Communism. I am not a big fan of communism but.. this song is too good to dismiss as another socialist-propaganda song.!
