Olfaction is certainly one of the most intriguing subjects as well as the least understood. You associate your memories best with the sense of smell. I have to say the fragrance given out by Parijaat ko phool....has been the most longing! Its sad to see the tree that has been cornerstone of your childhood doesn't exist there anymore.

Very seductive odor plumes wafting across this room today - has trown my olfactory sense in complete disarray! :) Nothing to add to the list - my nasal reception has long been crippled by all those bouts of 'peenaas' - haaachin! However, mine would be the crisp spring morning wind, out in the meadows with tulips in the full bloom. Lovely. Zalimsing - your phrase reminded me of a t-shirt blurb somewhere. It read: Just as I was beginning to smell 'the sweet smell of success', somebody FARTED! :)) Have a good day. Carpe diem

Oh dear, I don't think there is anything left to mention ! Ummm....RIGHT NOW I miss the smell of Sayapatri flowers and how it's leaves and stem smells still with dew drops present in my hands, when you pick a nanglo full of them early in the morning.[ to make endless trails of garlands to drape over banisters and doors, for bhagwan ko murtis or simply to put in the flower vase] I miss the smell of those intoxicating agarbattis, dhoops and the diyo as it burns away serenely. I miss the smell of selrotis frying away merrily, while mamu bustles around the house complaning how what is still to be done and how we shall never finish it on time for Tihar. I miss the smell of elaichi and lwang and many other festival masalas, that I know not the name of. I miss the warmth and smell of Dashain/Tihar kinda gham back home.Somehow the gham is not the same elsewhere. My mellow comforting gham...... :(:(:(
