I was watching television with my family, and suddenly one US reporter said, " we have again proved the world that we are the best sporting nation ". All of my family burst into  laughter after hearing that.

I know so far with 30 golds US are very far behind China with 46. World knows it.  So why is there a constant effort by US media to prove that they are number one sporting nation in the world. Don't make laughing stock out of yourself and accept the fact that China are the new superpower in sports.

I went through few American websites, and found that in every website they have put US on top , purely because they have won more medals ( lot of bronzes and silvers).

I have just one advice, being second is not mean achievement. That is very commendable performance. But try to prove you are still in top is ludicrous .  Every American media suffers from this egocentric disease. 

Funny thing is I went to the past olympics medals table on the archive and found out they have sorted out according  to the total number of gold medals won.  So why in this olympic they have decided to sort it out by the total number of medals won.

Don't be surprised from the next olympics if they sort out the medals based on the number of medals won in swimming pool.  Because in their most fancied athletics  they have been already been struck by lightning Bolt.

Sathi ho, it would be better if your arguments are only relevant to the topic.  Even IOC have clearly mentioned that the medals table should be sorted out in the basis of Gold medals. So all your effort seems futile.

Well I admit that most of the world's countries Rank by gold medal first but that does not in any way justify your notion that now the whole country is a 'pathetic looser'. I have disagreements with US media in the past and probably will always have but that does not grant me the license to call everyone a pathetic loser. I mean ofcourse, I know that you have the freedom to express your views, but when you come back and say be respectful and all that to people who are brawling here because of your anti-american comments, it becomes perfectly obvious that thats the road you have chosen to take your views to, which is to be biased towards US. So don't show off here saying you are all that down the middle and calling spade a spade kinda fella. You are NOT.

Yes, they might have obviously been baised towards their country by showing the medal tally the wrong way than what is supposed to. You can put forth that view being respectful, as you have claimed here. But you did not in any way prove with your very title of this thread, that anyone can have any kind of respectful arguments/disagreements with you.

no_quiero has a point. the medal tally should be sorted according to the number of gold medals won and not the total. the media should also be fair and transparent as well -- no question about that too. but it's been a trend that we've been seeing in all major (or minor) sporting events all across the globe that media tend to have bias towards their team and sports-stars. it's more true in the case of local media and it's not just the US media! hence accusing the US media solely and calling them pathetic losers would be, IMO, not being able to totally understand how media, in general, work during important sporting events.

oh yeah and talking about pathetic losers; for having discussed this petty topic for hours and still keeping it on, we all, including my dear friend no_quiero, are pathetic losers in our own rights, if you ask me hahahahahaha

Well, It's upto a country's own media to shape up things so that they can hike up the up TV ratings and keep up the nationalistic feelings intact. But don't you guys think America should give credit where it's due? Me and my friends were watching and rooting for the US volleyball team yesterday as they played Russia and we landed up the with same discussion that's going on in here...

whats up with olympic things. why sud u guys worry about it. if you really wanna worry about olympics then hope nepal does better next. we are nepalese first so why run behind us, china or uk watever. be proud to be who u are what u r. dont be proud of where u r. eventually u will end up nth but hatred wherever u go around. no matter how long u stay abroad whether it be us, uk china, middle east u are nepali dont ever forget this stop these crap arguement on other country. lets hope nepal will get atleast on medal next olympic
