++++ This hypothetical situation is directed towrds those who think the NC is a corrupt political party? Assuming you are Party President of multiple times, Mr. GP Koirala, then how would you run a political party, Nepali Congress, without corruptions, smugglings and protection to criminals ?

Shirish, why you have to post everything about the Korialas here. Last time you had started a thread on Sujata. To tell you most us are not interested in neither the Koiralas nor the Nepali Congress.

Gundruktama,
If you are not interested, simply ignore !! Tapai pina sukaudai garnu hola, ma karaudai garchu !!
If you go through the posts and reply, no one has any valid reasons or methods to run a political organization. So why blame GP Koirala and NC for what they are doing ?
GP Koirala's name is again surfacing to lead the nation. That interest's me !!
Disclaimer: I am not mocking GP Koirala but simply interested in the happenings/events of Nepal.
Plus these are not the threads I made hai.
Motherland,
When ? Where? How? Why ?
Any valid answers?

Seven-Party Alliance breaks down
BY GHANASHYAM OJHA
KATHMANDU, June 24 - Two major left political parties – CPN (Maoist) and CPN-UML – have reached agreement to seek consensus with other parties on amendment to the constitution even without the Nepali Congress.
A meeting of the two parties at Singha Durbar on Monday decided to seek consensus with other political parties to amend the constitution for forming the next government. The two parties will try to persuade Nepali Congress to withdraw its conditions but are prepared to move ahead without the NC if the latter refuses.
The seven-party alliance (SPA) as mentioned in the interim constitution is effectively dead.
"The ongoing political stalemate should not continue and all other political parties should seek consensus to find a way out of the crisis if Nepali Congress doesn't withdraw its stance," said UML leader Ishwar Pokharel, who attended the meeting.
The two parties' meeting concluded that NC's demand for induction of an opposition leader into the Security Council is not appropriate.
"An opposition party should never claim representation in the Security Council," said Pokharel.
The Maoists had left the SPA negotiating table on Sunday after NC demanded representation of opposition party in the Security Council.
The meeting decided to introduce a proposal at Wednesday's CA meeting to amend the constitution.
The seven political parties have already agreed to amend the current constitution to enable a simple majority to appoint the president.
"We will first try to seek consensus with Nepali Congress also. But we will introduce a non-government bill to amend the constitution if NC doesn't withdraw its demand by Wednesday," said senior Maoist leader Dr Baburam Bhattarai.
He said the process of forming the next government will begin once the interim constitution is amended and a new president elected through a simple majority of CA members.
A source close to the UML source said the Maoists, during the meeting, agreed to the UML claim for the post of president. However, Dr Bhattarai said, "We didn't discuss the issue of the next president during the meeting. The issue of power sharing will come up only after the constitution is amended."
UML leader Pokharel said, "The Maoists are very positive about the UML's claim for president."
When reminded that the Maoist secretariat has already decided to propose chairman of Nava Janabadi Morcha Ram Raja Prasad Singh for president, Pokharel said, "The Maoist argument that the presidential candidate should not be someone who has lost in the CA poll is meaningless."
He said it's the UML's internal business whom it selects as its presidential candidate. The UML has informally proposed outgoing general secretary Madhav Kumar Nepal for the top post.
However, Deb Gurung, a Maoist minister, speaking at a program, categorically rejected the possibility of Nepal becoming president, arguing that he had lost the elections in both the constituencies he contested.
A Maoist source also said the party will never accept Nepal as president. "Our first preference is Ramraja Prasad Singh and we may settle for Sahana Pradhan only if our efforts for Singh fail," the source said.
Following the meeting with the Maoists, the UML held a separate meeting with the NC and urged the latter to withdraw its demand for opposition representation in the Security Council. However, the NC reiterated its stance arguing that representation of the opposition in the Security Council is required in the special democracy that obtains. "A demand for opposition representation in the Security Council would be irrelevant only in a normal democracy," said NC spokesperson Arjun Narsing KC, who attended the meeting.
He said the NC's demand is very relevant in the existing situation where the Maoists will head both the armies -- Nepali Army and rebel army (People's Liberation Army) --following the formation of a new government.
"We asked the UML team to realize the sensitivity of the current security situation and support our demand," said KC.

‘No-trust motion against PM likely if he sticks to power’ |
|
|
|
|
Kathmandu, June 23
Senior Maoist leader and Minister for Local Development Dev Gurung Monday warned that Prime Minister Girija Prasad Koirala would be removed from the post by tabling a no-trust motion if he denies to step down immediately.
"The PM’s greed for power has been stopping him from tendering his resignation," Gurung said speaking at The Reporters’ Club Nepal.
There was no alternative other than to table a no-trust motion at the Constituent Assembly (CA) as Koirala has continued to cling on the power without lending a thought to the popular mandate of the voters after the CA elections. He reiterated that his party would not accept Koirala as the first president of the country.
He said that his party would not accept CPN-UML leader Madhav Nepal as the president, as he was defeated in the April elections from the two constituencies.
NC leader Dr. Prakash Sharan Mahat said that Koirala would resign from the post at the CA meeting to be held Wednesday. "Another crisis might emerge if the parties shun politics of consensus and go for power sharing. NC is not prepared to accept the posts left over by the Maoist and the UML. "
UML leader Bhim Rawal said that the UML had not taken an official decision about its presidential candidate though there was an agreement with the Maoists on power sharing over PM and the president. "NC’s logic to remain in the opposition was not justified as they made the announcement on sensing that they would not be given key ministerial berths. The NC should participate in the government led by other parties as they too did the same under the leadership of Koirala."
Civil society leader Nilambar Acharya urged the political parties to decide on the issue of power sharing at the earliest possible, as the issue has overshadowed the process of drafting new constitution. |

PM Koirala meets MK Nepal amidst speculation that he is eager for second inning
Prime Minister Girija Prasad Koirala appears to be on an overdrive to again secure the post of head of government two days after coming from Sri Lanka visit to attend the SAARC summit with a brief stopover in New Delhi to meet top Indian leaders.
PM Koirala, who heads a caretaker government after he resigned from the post weeks earlier, met former general secretary of United Marxist Leninist (UML) Madhav Nepal Thursday and discussed the issue of government formation.
During the meeting held at the house of a UML leader in the morning, the leaders of the two major parties in the Constituent Assembly are learnt to have reached a conclusion that the new government of national unity should be formed on consensus with all the parties. However, they are also said to be quite sure that a new government wouldn't be formed within the timeframe set by President Ram Baran Yadav.
A Nepalnews reporter who was at the meeting venue confirmed through sources that the talks between the two leaders were indeed focused on the formation of a new government. However, he said that PM Koirala didn't prefer to comment on the hour-long discussion and also barred another NC leader and minister Ram Sharan Mahat, who accompanied him in the meeting, from talking to the media.
It is also widely believed that PM Koirala personally went to the meeting venue, something he does rarely, to meet the UML leader as he suspected that the recent hobnobbing between Maoist and UML leaders meant that the two are trying to forge an alliance in expense of NC. A source also confirmed that PM Koirala put this concern of his during the meeting.
But the UML leader brushed it off by saying that his party firmly believes that the new government should be formed "after consensus is reached between major parties".
UML has been saying that such a consensus government should be headed by CPN (Maoist).
PM Koirala, who has intensified meetings with leaders of other parities after coming returning from India, met the UML leader amidst speculation that he is eager for a second inning.
On Thursday, Koirala started what has been described as "internal consultation" with leaders of fringe parties and is expected to give it a continuity today too, focusing on the possibility of forming a government sans Maoists. He is also scheduled to meet Rastriya Janashakti Party chief Surya Bahadur Thapa later today.
Meanwhile, UML general secretary Jhala Nath Khanal held meeting with British ambassador Andrew Hall at his residence today wherein they discussed the current political situation and the formation of the new government. Khana had yesterday blamed CPN (Maoist) for the undue delay in government formation. nepalnews.com ag Aug 07 08

PM meets Gachchhadar; some NC leaders want Koirala to lead new govt
In his bid to form new government excluding the Maoists, Prime Minister of the caretaker government Girija Prasad Koirala met Madhesi Janadhikar Forum (MJF) leader Bijaya Kumar Gachchhadar Friday morning.
Gachchhadar, who is his party's parliamentary leader, reached PM's official residence alone. Koirala be believed to have sought MJF's help in forming the government under his leadership.
In the presidential elections, it was through Gachchhadar that Koirala is said to have convinced the MJF top brass to vote for Dr Ram Baran Yadav. Despite the four parties agreed on formation of the new government with consensus among them, they failed to reach any agreement.
Meanwhile, Nepali Congress held the informal meeting of its central working committee at Baluwatar this morning to discuss the agenda for the meeting of the top leaders of four big parties scheduled for today.
Sources say that some NC leaders advised the party leadership not to withdraw from its earlier stand if the Maoists are to lead the new government. They also advised that Koirala should lead the new government as well. nepalnews.com ia Aug 08 08

| By-polls will show parties’ scores: GPK
| CA bypolls: Maoists, underdogs shine
POST REPORT KATHMANDU, April 11 - Unified CPN (Maoist) registered thumping victory in Friday's by-election, claiming three of the six seats while two ruling coalition partners and the main opposition won one apiece. The Maoists retained their victory in Rolpa-2 and Kaski-1 -- from where Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal and Law Minster Dev Gurung were elected, respectively -- and snatched Kanchanpur-4 from Nepali Congress. The remaining three constituencies -- Morang-5, Morang-7 and Dhanusha-5 -- fell to Madheshi Janadhikar Forum (MJF), Nepali Congress (NC) and CPN-UML, respectively. The by-election outcome also proved triumphal moment for three candidates from three different parties who had suffered defeat last April: Maoist candidate Harish Thakulla, Congress's Dr Shekhar Koirala and UML's Raghubir Mahaseth. Thakulla, who had lost to Congress leader Sher Bahadur Deuba, and Koirala, defeated by MJF's Bijaya Kumar Gachhadar, have won from Kanchanpur-4 and Morang-7. Mahaseth, who had lost to MJF last year, has been elected from Dhanusha-5, by defeating President Ram Baran Yadav's son, Chandra Mohan Yadav. MJF's Jairam Yadav, and Maoist's Krishna Bahadur Gurung and Santosh Bahadur Budha Magar were elected from Morang-5, Kaski-1 and Rolpa-2, respectively. Budha Magar polled 19,933; Thakulla 10,782 votes; Koiralia 12,071; Mahaseth 13,231; Jairam Yadav 13,811; and Krishna Bahadur Gurung 12,257, claiming victory by a slim margin of 32 votes over his Congress opponent Dipak Bahadur Gurung (12,225 votes). Meanwhile, Tarai Madhes Loktantrik Party candidate from Morang constituency-5 Umesh Giri has demanded re-election claiming that the electronic voting machines in the constituency were rigged by Madheshi Janadhikar Forum (MJF). He has accused Minister for Foreign Affairs and MJF Chairman Upendra Yadav of predetermining the polls outcome on his party's favour. Giri claimed that the circuits and chips of the voting devices were switched on the minister's directives so that the votes cast for TMLP ended up on MJF side and vice versa. It all adds up, he said, “Why would MJF activists take out victory rally at Rani area of the constituency before the vote count started?” “I will go to the court demanding re-election in which voters will actually have to drop ballot papers to cast their vote,” he said. Perhaps, I would have to think if the question was how would you run NC if you were president of the party instead of GPK! I would just take complete retirement from the active politics and only provide behind the scene support. I would not make stupid comments in media that could shame other party cadres. At least, try the best to put corrupt folks in the bar. GPK is doing more harm than good to his party and nation. He can definitely help on constitution writing but not required to spit out his oldies head! He, indeed, is a well-respected figure for many Nepalese folks but he is still unable to use those supports. I think, there might be leadership gap in NC for sometimes but it does not take time. If GPK had retired on time, we would have seen lots of brilliant your leaders emerging to move country in different direction, perhaps right one! Cheers'

if i were prime minister 1. i would built a biggest hydro electricity project, which would be enough for our country. 2. as we all know that the manang, mustang and all those hilly places where the wind blows so wildly,,,, i would built a wind electricty project (fan looking thing which generate electricity). 3. i would support local and big business man of our country,,,which help in finance. 4. i would kick out all the government workers and replace them with nepal army,,,which reduce the corruption. 5. i would increase the salary of nepal army( equal to the salary of indian army) and inspire our young boys to join our nepal army rather than indian army. 6. i would reopen the clothing factory of nepal which was closed,,,and i would inspire our young boys and girls to step forward to disigne those cloth,,which makes us not to buy the foreign cloth. 7. i would tight the security in the boarder line between nepal and india because thats the place from where all the bad infulence came inside nepal. 8. i would orginize a biggest road cleaning program,,,where presedent myself will be cleaning the road,,which makes others asame of themself and makes them to realize their mistake. 9. i would inspire our news reporters to post the nationalism articles,,rather than a article about indian actors. 10. i would not break a relationship with india but it doesnt mean that i have to obey them,,,,what iam trying to say is that i will learn all of their political, economical, business, techonology etc methods and use them in improving our countries condition. 11. i would make a web site where our brothers and sisters living in abroad can discuss with me about new and improve ways to help our nation. 12. the last thing that i saved for my last line is i will reopen all the files against the peoples in higher post who are living relax life after doing crime, corruption,,etc,,,and suspend them all and charge them to return the nations treasure. jai nepal
