Me and my girlfriend live in an apartment. My girlfriend has a really pretty friend named Resha (fake name) and she regularly does sleepover in our apartment. Last night she stayed in our apartment and something crazy happened. It was around 2 am, while i was sleeping on the couch, Resha came to me started kissing me while i was sleeping. I didnt want to but at that time my mind was not working properly and we end up having sex in the living room. The next morning, it was very akward to see her and pretend like nothing happened. I talked to her about it while my gf was in the bathroom, but she said it's nothing serious and i should not worry about it. She even said she would not say anthing to anyone about it. But i feel very ashamed and feel like saying sorry to my gf, but i don't wanna lose her.. and i feel really ashamed. Should i tell my gf about it?

There are two futre states of the world, depending on your course of action. If you tell your gf, you enter state 1. Otherwise, you are in state2.

State1: You tell your gf. She is heartbroken. She breaks up with you OR she can never completely trust you again. You get rid of your guilty conscience, but you hurt your gf, and worse, you could end up losing her and she could never trust you completely.

State 2: You stay mum. Your girlfried never finds out (unless the friend tells her). She is oblivious to the fact. You have a nagging feeling, but like most feelings it will weaken with time. For your girlfriend - ignorance is bliss. You keep your girlfriend, and she trusts you.

The bottom line: You cheated on your girlfriend, so you deserve to be kicked in the nuts. However, telling your girlfriend will create more hurt and feeling. Just cos you let that thing off your mind does not mean that you will feel better. Your girlfriend probably deserves someone better, but since you came here for advice I guess we should help you out.

Note: the girls responding are all putting themselves in the shoes of your girlfriend. And they all say that you should spill the beans. Of course they would say that. hehe

In your case, I can understand its not you who committed the sin, but your thirst or want to have sex.The moment you saw Resha(the seducer) coming to kiss you,your mind must have gone blank.You couldn't think of anything else,your future, the possible guilt, your innocent GF, nothing at all.Thats how powerful sex can be.
But,now instead of regreting over your past,I think it is wise to think about your future.
First of all, if you keep it as a secret,I am sure your girlfriend will never find out(unless Resha blackmails you to have sex again like in movies, but don't do it).But it can be very hard to supress guilt while you are progressing on your relationship.I feel sorry for you.
But if you think you can't, go ahead and confess it. Your acceptance could depend on how much she loves you.If she was always after you, she might forgive and accept you.
Boy, you betrayed your love, therfore, you got to be ready to surrender and face any punishment.
Just think, what would you do if she had done the same thing and she dared to confess infront of you? Would you accept or leave her?

I don't understand why it is so necessary to tell her. Cause if you do, she will be hurt and might not trust you ever again even if she forgives you. So weigh your importance i'd say....everyone is different afterall...

Thanks for suggestions people. I know it sounds like a fake story and i wish(100) it was. I know i have committed a sin and should be punished. I haven't said anything about this to my girlfren. I want to tell her but i don't have that much courage to tell her right now. Has anyone cheated on their gf/wife and not tell her? Will this gulit factor diminishes with time? I am sorry to all the girls who think i'm a d**k but sometimes mistakes does happen. I know i'll never do this again so should i keep it secret forever?

And the thing is, this is not the only weird relationship post on sajha. There have been tons of similar nature, and my gut instinct tells me that they're all coming from one person with multiple aliases. All these posts sound like they're straight out of Divorce Court. Hell, my White colleague thinks divorce court is fake as well--some stuff is just too weird to be true. Now I'm not saying that this doesn't happen, mind you.

Most movies are inspired by true incidents, hoina ra? and strangely some people can't make even the smallest decision on their own...people with confused state of mind...and they get confused when they can't understand the difference between right and wrong and take actions on impulse. when they don't have confidence on their own, they can't handle situations when things go wrong...so they feel the need to ask. i'm not speaking solely for the starter of the thread but for everyone who have similar kinds of problem.
