Former Crown Prince Paras Shah opened fire at son-in-law of foreign minister Sujata Koirala, Rubel Chaudhary, at Tiger Tops Resort in Chitwan National Park over a personal dispute Saturday night, reports say.
Quoting high level police sources Kantipur daily reported, Chaudhary escaped unhurt as the bullet fired by Shah missed him.
Shah's personal security guards took Chaudhary and hid him in a room in the resort after the incident. They transferred him to another resort in Nawalparasi the next morning before Shah got up.
Chief District Officer (CDO) of Chitwan, Basanta Raj Gautam, said the dispute was totally personal.
After knowing about the incident foreign minister Koirala, who is on a foreign trip, called home minister Bhim Rawal and Inspector General of Police (IGP) Ramesh Chand Thakuri and requested them to arrest Shah and take action against him.
A statement reputed to be issued by Shah has been circulated in the media in which he has conceded he fired in the air as he was provoked by a Bangladeshi and an Indian national who came and started talking to him when he was having dinner at the resort that night.
After they started humiliating my family, the erstwhile institution of monarchy and my country I tried controlling the situation, I opened fire in the air as I could not take the situation in control peacefully, it is mentioned in the statement.
District Police Office, Chitwan has said, it is investigating the incident. nepalnews.com

another article i came across as telegraphnepal. com reports Nepal’s former Crown Prince Paras Shah is back in the news with a big bang. If reports are to be believed then the former crown prince directed his guns towards the daughter and son-in-law of none other than the caretaker Deputy Prime Minister Sujata Koirala. Paras, reports reveal, wanted to take revenge with the Koirala family for abolishing the institution of monarchy. He held late Prime Minister Girija Prasad Koirala responsible for the current sorry state of the country and also for uprooting the 240 years old institution of monarchy. The incident took place mid-night Saturday December 1, 2010, at the Chitwan Jungle Resort. Paras Shah has already accepted the allegation. A highly infuriated Sujata Koirala who is currently in Bangkok-when was informed by her family members, immediately made a phone call to Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal and Home Minister Bhim Rawal and demanded immediate detention of the former prince. Unconfirmed reports have it that the Prime Minister has already ordered the security agencies to arrest the former crown prince. Sujata’s daughter Melani Koirala is married to a Bangladeshi national, Ruwel Chaudhary. The incident took place when Ruwel at around 09:00 PM met Paras Shah at the Bar of Tiger Tops resort. After holding friendly talks with Ruwel Chaudhary for some time, Paras requested him to go for a Jungle outing. With a frightened Chaudhary rejecting the offer, Paras all of a sudden took out his pistol and pointed it towards Chaudhary, the Nagarik daily reports. “I will finish all those who were involved in bringing this republican order…foreigners are at the helm of the country which was painfully united by our ancestors”, he said, writes Nagarik. In a statement issued after the sad incident, Paras Shah claims that he had indeed fired bullets as he could no longer tolerate the repeated insult of his country. “While I was having my dinner, I could see some foreigners were also sitting around the same place’, says Paras and adds, ”They- one Bangladeshi and an Indian national, came towards me and we began holding discussions.” “They began criticizing my past activities, the institution I represented and my county”, the statement quotes Paras as saying. “I tried my best to convince them but after failing to do, so I preferred to go out of the room”. “After half an hour or so as I could see none in the area and as I could not tolerate the repeated insult of my country, I fired one round of bullet”, he admits. “Yes, I accept that I had fired the bullet but it was not pointed at any one”, concludes Paras Shah. Question now is whether Paras Shah should have fired the pistol? Question also is that can a Nepali national tolerate the insult of his own motherland? Yet, Paras Shah should have in his wisdom controlled his temperament. He failed to exhibit his maturity. Associated with this sad event is whether any tom dick and harry foreigners be henceforth allowed to insult mother Nepal and should the Nepali nationals listen to such insulting words attentively? It remains to be seen how this event gets amicably settled.

If I were, Paras's place, I would kill that idiot dhoti/Bangali Pig. Now Sujata might hire Sood to f**k her one more time. I don't care who is Paras, but in terms of this case I am with you, Paras. Should have killed that Bengali Bastard. How come anyone can stand humiliation by a foreigner pig like Bangaldeshi in our own soil? not me, and not Paras. Brave, did a great job this time. Just don't shoot the countrymen.

This is Bullshit. Paras is not a prince anymore, therefore does not have the authority to go around town brandishing guns. Much less go on firing that thing. To the the BHEDAS here lauding Paras' chartikalaa are praising their misplaced Patriotism. I am not a fugging fan of the Koirala clan but this is no way to show it. PARAS SHOULD BE TAKEN INTO CUSTODY IF YOU WANT TO FOLLOW THE LAWS OF NEPAL. NO FAVORTISM HERE. IF PEOPLE WANT TO GO AFTER THE KOIRALAS GO IT THE LEGAL WAY. WE DON"T NEED VIGILANTES RUNNIG AMOK IN NEPAL. TO BRING STABILITY IN NEPAL WE NEED TO ESTABLISH LAW AND ORDER FIRST.

Finally someone Rational comes up...I agree with Bathroom Coffee I think ppl who are hailing Paras have a selective memory or selective Amnesia and are the kind of ppl who only see what they want to see!!! A person who cannot sustain in an arguement with someone else with a stronger opinion and has to resort to a Gun ...how on earth do u think will that guy run a democratic nation?? A person who has been raised in such a pampered and shielded Royal life who thinks and has gotten away with murder will not think twice on shooting YOU if u defer to him!! the guy is desperate, emotionally unstable and lost it.... On the other hand i dont condone other castrated and incapable political clans like the koiralas for thier appeasing political games. Class clowns Wishful thinking !!! but cant even name a single person who i can wish to reign Nepal if that happens!!

BC, I agree with your emphasis on rule of law and this is also a kind of misplace patriotism-not to mention how the same bhedas were on the street at the behest of SEVEN PARTY WARLORDS-which has made our country like hell..the bigger here I see is, how even the ex-prince is humiliated by foreigners, let alone the common Nepali. If there is rule of law, then of course many more have to be brought to justice, including those butchers who are the cause of 13000 Nepali. In front of many crimes and corruption committed by the political leaders, paras's crime appears very small. First, we need to prosecute those who committed biggest crimes, on a fair ground, paras turns comes only after those. I think, this issue is not about incriminating one individual but should be about the our incompetent political leaders who are the catalyst of this socio-politcal situation of nepal , and they should be brought into justice. Reality is, nepali are tired, exhausted and now perhaps are in a better position to compare between the previous political situation and current, without baseness you ask yourself! is nepal better off now or before?

BC are you under the impression that anyone follows the law in Nepal? Murderers and mass murderers are roaming scott free in the streets so someone firing a gun is a very minor thing compared to what the politicians are doing to the country. Law abiding police officers are being transferred to other districts because they are doing their job correctly. Nepalis have seen these politicians and in fact lot of people agree that nepal needs the rule of the gun to get on the right track. So a gunshot may even be a welcome change towards the better for Nepal, specially when this gunshot is not the killer gunshot of bloodthirsty maoists who want to instill an expired ideology or the gunshot of indian agents. This is home grown and centuries old.

Paras has no right to fire at anyone...if he has issues then he could have called cops...he should have gone acc ..to law not behave as a kid and act himself as a law...nepali janta should realize that he is no more prince..and this kind of act should not be awarded ; moreover should be demoralized...

Grg, I am not saying everyone follows the law in Nepal. But we have to start somewhere right ? But if we promote this kind of behaviour ... there will be more lawlessness, which would result in more kaos, right ? I am of belief that violence does not solve anything, it will only escalate the tension.

Everybody is talking about "Rule of Law". And are you talking about the so called "New Nepal"? You are so f***king kidding me. They are enjoying छाडातन्त्र in the name of लोकतन्त्र. Evenif exists, that's like ठुलालाई चैन् सानालाई ऐन . If you start to impose the law, Hitler/Jung Bahadur should born first. They have to arrest at least 20000 maoist rebels (dont ask about the extremism) before pointing any finger to Paras who is heading a new rebellion group.
