Me and a couple of friends have initiated a group which aims to strengthen bonds between Nepali geeksters. Just looking for a good number of fun people to hang out with, share knowledge, update each other on programming practices and pitfalls. A buddy system for people who have genuine interest to learn (and not just to cheat :P "Hey can you do my program for me?")
Self learning has its drawbacks. If you have no one to discuss with, no one to review your code, then even accomplishing the simplest of tasks become the hardest of things.
We are looking for people interested in learning various sorts of technologies like:
- front-end web development (HTML/CSS/Javascript/AJAX)
- database technologies (SQL/PLSQL, triggers, stored procedures, optimization/normalization)
- backend web-devs (PHP, CGI, LAMP servers, logrotate, etcetera)
- frameworks and design patterns
- Content-management systems. (esp Drupal6)
- programming languages, especially Object Oriented
- The Unix Operating system (bash scripting, editors, general commandline kungfu)
... are *some* of the possibilities.
e-books are in plentiful, you dont have to worry about the resources. Look forward to interacting with much of the social tools out there (Twitter, GitHub, Skype/GoogleVoice).
This is just a casual web meetup (maybe a couple over the weekend). Our primary platform of exchange is good ol' IRC. We also have an infant website running on Drupal.
Looking forward to create a community of tech enthusiasts.
If you're interested, you can find us on the IRC channel #mahalangur on irc.freenode.net (you know how to get there right? if not theres your self learning chance #1).
Cheers and hope to meet some interesting folks.
