1995/6's  NRs 7690 is US$150 (go and find yourself the historical x-change rates at www .x-rates.com, 1US$ = NRs 51)

2003/4's NRs 15,162 is US$ 194 (1 US$ = NRs 78.05)

You idiot, there is no increase in Nepalese's income. The reason is 2003's US $ 194 would be almost same or even less than 1995's US$150, if you are to take inflation rates into consideration.

Read the executive summary in the second volume of the report, where it says, the share of farming income in total income decreased considerably  from 61% to 48% (why? of course, you fugging maoists chased hard working farmers out of their vilages).

But if somebody non nepalese citizen understands and reads all these posting then he will definitely hate we all Nepales. Our posting shows that we are poor not only economically but also by thinking, morality and respect. Folks, I started to feel that a bunch of Sajha-fellas enjoys much in Nepe-bashing than anything else. It is nice to see when a discussion focuses on issues as well as bashing ones' view tailored to hide terrorist atrocities with suger-coated wordings but sometime it goes little beyond the limit. It would be much better to present the other side of the coin that Nepe is referring as the positive aspect showing some of the statistics.

 

I think, the point raised by Bubblegum is genuine. We need to re-analyse the figures considering the market inflation, currency devaluation, changed datum of living standards etc. before getting into the conclusion.

The remittance is good only for a short period of time. It is never good in the long run because it prevents investment in infrastructure building in the country. That is real loss for us. We need to re-evaluate the loss as well.

My anticipation is that, if there is no war and no bandhs in the country, our country will have fast economic development. No matter whoever runs the government. Because we are sure we will have increase in tourist inflow, increase in remmitance and increase in domestic consumption. The next benefit is the tying our currency with Indian currency. That means, if indian economy gets strong, it certainly benefits nepal, which is very likely to happen. Therefore, we will obviously see such a comfortable statistics but that does not necessarily mean that we have improved our economy. If our economy improves at the rate of India or China, then, there is something we should be happy, otherwise, we must accept that we are falling down.
