Me myself is not from any of those famous schools, BUT  I would have definitely loved to study there.

If I have to be little proud of myself,  not only Xavier's, BNKS and Rato Bangla,  I can stand toe to toe with graduates of Doon , Welhams  and Amutuls Public, TAPS Delih and others.

It all depends on student, Xaviers,  Marrys  n others have produced many talents, at the same time, Nihita Bishwas (GF of Shobhraj) is also product of Marry's. Here, I dont blame school at all. Once again, its all abt individual.

LAURE!!...there comes a another xavierainn...they  get hurt when somebody out done them. How i love that. and if you think only xavierian gets good knowledge about rest of the world, then you are completely wrong. I understand they engage you in different extracurricular activites but that does not make you aware about the rest of the world. it is not about western culture and rock music, out side world also listen the folk music. I have some friends from xavier’s too, and i realized what they think of themselves, a relatively shallow..than any normal citizen from a rural village. Moreover, you need to learn problem solving skills and ability to resolve domestic issue first, rather than gathering even the craps from  the western world.

Yeah like you did, they often say father A told me like this father B, but laure, in nepal, if you have ever been to rural village a small villager would teach you a lot, worthy to remember for your entire life. I just wonder how many Xavierain been and seen the reality outside the rock world and urban area.  So if you are also one of those, who has these weird xavierian ego, i will ask you to walk out from that.  yeah you people are good in english and equally good in making fun of those who does not have good English, but learning a language and knowing scrabble does not make u smart ass! It is about your intellectual ability and  brain… Rather I feel they are so insecure and want to make their own group so that they never have to be beaten by poor guy like me.

Sorry xavierns, people can't stand ur ego and u can't stand them outdoing you.

I feel sorry father, your few students are intellectually beaten to death by a poor fellow from rural village.

I encourage all those rural people who come from an ordinary govt school; guys please do not feel low and humiliated. You can beat them only if you think you can and only you WANT.

anyway laure, i have nothing personal about you, your system of education is like that you guys think you are from diff planet.

kathCAT,

I had a very hard time comprehending your comments that it completely demolished my good Friday :-).Unlike my fellow Xavierians, I consider myself very weak and neophyte when it comes to English (gai-khane-bhasa). :-(

I would like to respond to your every unperceiving and undiscerning sentences.

"and if you think only xavierian gets good knowledge about rest of the world, then you are completely wrong"

I am concerned about that word "only" which has certainly twisted the beauty of your sentence. Did I ever mention that only Xavierians get enough knowledge about the rest of the world? Definitely, Xavierians acquire enough knowledge about the world but I never mentioned that vile word "only".

"it is not about western culture and rock music, out side world also listen the folk music."
I am sorry, but I am yet to understand the meaning of this sentence. Do you mean our folk songs are popular as much as Metallica?  I am not sure about the "out side world" but I don't mind listening to folk songs as I am a "Lahure". :-)

"i realized what they think of themselves, a relatively shallow..than any normal citizen from a rural village"

My dear friend KathCAT, on what plausible reasons can you claim that Xavierians are shallow? just because they dont live in rural village?  I would appreciate it if you would come up with some cogent reasonings  first before marking someone as "shallow" in future.

"Moreover, you need to learn problem solving skills and ability to resolve domestic issue first not the western world."

You are flattering us, Xavierians too much here. Thank you! but we dont have that potentiality to resolve issues of western world yet. Talkin about domestic issue, you want us to choose the president of Nepal. My vote goes to you as you claim yourself the man with big brain.

"but learning a language and knowing scrabble does not make u smart ass! It is about your intellectual ability and  brain…"

We need brain to learn language...dont you? Probably you dont but I do.

"I feel sorry father, your few students are intellectually beaten to death by a poor fellow from rural village."

Was that typos buddy? Well, life is so hectic and irksome here, so probably you were replying me when you were high. I know you really meant to write this instead :
Congratulations Father, your fellow students were able to pop their names in IOE and IOM in the merit list and many got accepted in reputed colleges in US.

kathCAT, its upto you now to figure out who got big brain and intellectually sharp?

"I encourage all those rural people who come from an ordinary govt school; guys please do not feel low and humiliated. You can beat them only if you think you can and only you WANT"

I already mentioned that there is no reason to get debased for not studying in the eminent schools. kathCAT sir, don't make me to repeat my sentence again and again.

Thank you,

Sorry laure if i had demolished good friday! again this proves that you are also one of those xavierain having typical xavierian attitude. you guys need to learn humbleness more than showing your attitude. My earlier comments about xavierian, i agree, was little implicit and may be little satiric. I was not implying you guys learn hell lot of things about western world, but you guys are enticed to western world for no reason while you guys do not any idea  what is going outside the KTM valley. This is where you are shallow. And I do not want you to live in village or rural part, but you guys are not aware about 90% nepal as much as others are aware about it. AND WHICH IS NEPAL!

Yeah you need brain to learn language, more than that you need an opportunity to learn it. It is not because you guys have "THE BRAIN" to learn it, you guys are spoon feeded for that-learn west, behave west, look west and ignore  the rest attitude.

HOWEVER I LOVE TO ANSWER THIS "Congratulations Father, your fellow students were able to pop their names in IOE and IOM in the merit list and many got accepted in reputed colleges in US.

I came from one of those institutions  that you mentioned and i ask you to go and find the records how many xavieriens actually survived with that merit at the end of 4 or 5 years. You will be very disappointed. If you talk about US, just go find how many xavieriens are in NASA, UN, WORLD BANK..and so on you will again be disappointed. Childhoold spoon feeding works only for sometime, gap becomes narrower as you graduates.

Just one example, Dr. Upendra Devkota and Dr. Arun Baskota( xavieriaen) both are successful. Devkota saw a motor vehicle after his SLC, Baskota was always a nourished child, never had to face kind of adversities that devekota had to face or need to do any struggle, Devkota fought against all the odds..now you decide who is better in their profession and outside their profession. ( i am just giving one example, i do not want to add insult to your humiliation by adding more list like this, if you want i can)

What makes you complete person is “the series of struggle and survivals" not a " spoon feeded education".

YOU GUYS ARE EDUCATED FROM "A CONTENT" REST PEOPLE LIKE ME EDUCATED FROM THE "CONTEXT"

THIS IS THE BIG DIFFERENCE.

So, sooner you wash your xavierien attidude better for you!

and yeah, sorry for my poor english and grammar, you guys can make mockery of my english. This is where you guys are good at!

I don't know what kind of an immature discussion is this....after having come so far in life. It is not about St. Xavier's, St. Mary's. Rato Bangala, etc.....it is about the state of the education system in our country, which can lead to a whole new discourse than picking at each other like this.

It's a pity that education is not accessible to one and all in our country. when there are only few good schools, it's quite apparent that only few get into those schools. And whether or not you went to those schools doesn't make you greater or lesser than anyone. We learn and grow with time, school is just a part of it. And yes, you learn to live your life beyond bookish knowledge in schools like SMS and STX, that is what I learnt. I don't remember my textbooks, I just remember the values that I am inculcated with, and I know that I derive my strength as a woman from "that" education I received. Every time I fall in life, I have learnt to stand up and walk again because my school has given that strength to me. More than textbooks, values were stressed upon. In fact when we took the SLC exam we are told, we are not here to produce board toppers, we are here to produce women who contribute to their homes, their families and ultimately the nation. That's what education is.

And I believe everyone knows St. Xavier's and Mary's are the cheapest schools to date in Nepal. I studied with every strata of nepali society in my school.....and we never felt like we were different. As for schools like rato bangala.....they are providing good education, I believe its one of the best schools in kathmandu, where you are taught to be a nepali first. Anything good costs money, they don't have funds like the missionary schools. So, it makes sense...and RBS is not as expensive as the british school and lincoln.....which is exclusively for the rich kids.

So, I don't know why people are making such a big fuss about it. Please grow out of your inferiority complex people. And get into a healthier discussion.

kathCAT,

you have to concur at the point that you got typical stupid attitude. I didn't have any intention to  offend you and I tried my best to be meek as much as I can, but your mordant yet preposterous words keep offending us , Xavierians.
It is not so wise of me to reply imbecile and dunce like you, but I would like to give you the mouthful of answers.

"This is where you are shallow. And I do not want you to live in village or rural part, but you guys are not aware about 90% nepal as much as others are aware about it. AND WHICH IS NEPAL!"

If you want I can talk for hours and hours about the situation of rural villages and current political situation of Nepal. How can you be so ardent that we are not aware about 90% of Nepal?.  We dont go and graze cows and buffalos but when it comes to the general knowledge I bet we have more than you.

"It is not because you guys have "THE BRAIN" to learn it, you guys are spoon feeded for that-learn west, behave west, look west and ignore  the rest attitude"

Even after giving enough examples you are still claiming that we dont have brain. What the hell is that "spoon feeded" thing, sorry but I haven't learned Spanish yet.

"I came from one of those institutions  that you mentioned and i ask you to go and find the records how many xavieriens actually survived with that merit at the end of 4 or 5 years. You will be very disappointed. If you talk about US, just go find how many xavieriens are in NASA, UN, WORLD BANK..and so on you will again be disappointed. Childhoold spoon feeding works only for sometime, gap becomes narrower as you graduates."

I would love to hear which school did you attend in Nepal and where did you go for you Bachelor's degree in Nepal. I have seen enough Xavierians who have succeeded in their respective field. kathCAT, you dont bother to answer my reply and keep repeating the same sentence again and again. I told you in St. Xavier's they teach students more than just the contents of books and you are sayig that we have "childhood spoon feeding" education system in Xavier's. hahahahaha get a life!!!  To answer you questions regarding how many Xavierians are in NASA, UN , etc.. dude, we "dont wait for opportunities, we create them". That makes a huge difference between your thinking and ours.

About your absurd comparision between Upendra Devkota and Arun Baskota, it is your fatuous to compare them. You dont compare two diamonds son, all diamonds glisten so far. This comparision between Upendra Devkota and Arun Baskota and your hypocritical point that "Upendra didn't see motor vehicle after his SLC" clearly shows off how smart are you. Grow up kid, this is 21st century for your kind information.

"YOU GUYS ARE EDUCATED FROM "A CONTENT" REST PEOPLE LIKE ME EDUCATED FROM THE "CONTEXT"

I have read enough news and have seen many person in real life who got education from rural village. So, you don't need to boost yourself here. I know you are somewhere working in third class job and you are saying that you beat Xavierians,Marian, and other brilliant students. You are an avid fantasizer dude.

"So, sooner you wash your xavierien attidude better for you!"
Here is my advice in your own sentence "SO, SOONER YOU WASH YOUR VILLAGER ATTITUDE BETTER FOR YOU, KID"

Finally, before making stupid speculations about Xavierians, come up with cogent reasoning first. Then, we shall have hours of talk either in this thread or face to face.......WHATEVER YOU WANT!!!!

Thanks again,

lol kids, grow up. Life is much more than your high school but if you go to a good school, you will have a lot to cherish towards the later part of your life. Friends circle will be better, may be it helps you build a good network.

Things are not always the same and you have to change with the environment. I remember how the kids from Budhanilkantha used to think that they are the only ones capable of getting into good schools in USA, and it was true in the past. Now, Rato Bangala is another good school which has been highly competent over the years. I am not sure if the graduates of schools like Rato Bangala have been to jobs in UN, World Bank yet like those from Budhanilkantha have done, but definitely Rato Bangala is producing smart kids these days. I have seen a few people from Xaviers who have done extremely well as well. I think in terms of output "abroad", Budhanilkantha excelled because it had no competitors at the beginning. And, I do think that more than 70% of kids from Budhanilkantha are living abroad. This is a brain drain problem unless you contribute positively from abroad.

But, at the end, what is in you matters a lot. Your effort is a lot more important than anything else in your life.

"you have to concur at the point that you got typical villager attitude"

1. This is what deep inside in your heart, for your fellow citizens.

"We dont go and graze cows and buffalos but when it comes to the general knowledge I bet we have more than you."

1. This is what you people think that you know more... ( this is why you people are shallow)

I would love to hear which school did you attend in Nepal and where did you go for you Bachelor's degree in Nepal.

2. For you it should be enough that i did not attended xavier's and you are indeed having hard time defending your xavierian ego in front of poor fellow like me.  This should be enough.

And ranii, you too seem to be also from one of those SMS/ STX  as you said "you learn to live your life beyond bookish knowledge in schools like SMS and STX, that is what I learnt."  It may be true, but some people 90% nepalese without getting the kind of exposure and oppurtunity you got, they learned beyond your imagination not through the " content" or "preaching" from a couple of individuals but from their own life and surroundings and the conext.  UNDERSTAND THAT

kathCAT,

you may be right but this is also reality of our education system. St. Xavier/St. Mary's are no doubt good and they have good education system. We can not compare those schools with the others. As far as product is concerned, it depends on personal individual. on that note i agree with you, dr. devkota could be better than dr. baskota, perhaps this is why is he one of the most looked up figure in our society and the most talked about.  so is Dr. Bhattarai ( let's forget his political ideology).

I think Xavierian too have this kind of ego, not counting the others which they also need to improve, because it is not 70s/80s now, infomation, communication and mode of education has changed. You can virtually learn anything from any part of the world.

And laure, your first line to kathcat about "typical villager attitude is indeed very offensive" not only to kathCAT, but to entire villagers of nepal. You might also rethink when you write.

kathCAT,

You don't have any substantial explanations and you keep blabbering your undiscerning points again and again. what a loser!! Your mind is festooned with nothing but bunch of nugatory sh*t! There is no doubt  that we got more knowledge than you even though you keep on avowing that you are the man with high dexterity.
BTW, Is that your definition of the word "shallow"? If one has knowledge in extensive sectors, then you mark him as "shallow"?  Google the word "shallow", I am sure you will get it. From now on, start respecting your papa!!

"it may be true, but some people 90% nepalese without getting the kind of exposure and oppurtunity you got, they learned beyond your imagination not through the " content" or "preaching" from a couple of individuals but from their own life and surroundings and the conext."

Oh my fkn god! I have been rehearsing again and again that we don't limit our knowledge in the contents of the books rather we believe in the knowledge we learn from the practical world. I agree, probably  you do the same thing too but that doesn't give you proper right to offend anybody. Or,  are you actually supporting me here my dear friend cathKAT?  I am sorry but your sentence is too complex to understand as I am still a tyro when it comes to "gai-khane bhasa", English.

"UNDERSTAND THAT"

haha! I am about to pee in my pant now. For lord's sake, don't threaten me or shall I use more offensive words? I dont think you want that.

Eagle5,

I appreciate your time reading this beautiful discussion we are having. Didn't you badger to read the thread from the beginning? Mr. cathKAT has been 100 times more offensive than me, and you are picking me for being too offensive. This vividly shows of your fair judgment and your abomination towards Xavierians.
I DONT CARE........KEEP COMING TO ME!!!!!!

I did not mean to offend anybody other than this kathCAT by saying "villager attitude". If anybody other than kathCAT are offended by my statement then that is purely coincidental not intentional.

Have a good weekend :-)

it's as simple as MIT, Harvard & Standford holding their own against thousands of schools all over the world. why can't Xavier's, Mary's and Budhanilkantha hold their own in nepal? not all students who attend these schools are rich and talented kids. the schools are pioneers & are epoch-making in setting an education trend in nepal. have you not noticed, thousands of 'boarding' schools in nepal emulate the above mentioned schools? also the facilities provided by these schools were an envy at one point (maybe not anymore). add to it among the cheapest tuition fees. these are amongst the many reasons why most parents think about these schools first and foremost to get their kids admitted to. have you heard anyone saying, if they had a choice, they will not admit? at least not the majority. parents know the value! they know their kids will be embraced by society, just by mentioning where he or she went to school. it's that wow factor, no matter what you say because society has accepted and thinks that these schools provide amongst the best education in nepal. period.

You are welcome to throw all the dirty and shitty words that you may have learnt from your schooling and associations. That actually will show your color of people like you.

And of course the kind of education you had is showing up here. My education teaches me to respect commoner, irrespective of his caste, class and geographical background. Your using of metaphor “typical villagers attitude" for me rather denigrates the sentiment of larger people of Nepal.  Again this shows how good your education is!!!

Neither like you, do I not need to apologize for my fellow country men for using any denigrating word under any situation. So now people may have noticed how good SXV are,  and what actually they have in their mind. All I wanted to expose you people and I guess I have been able to do that.

Thanks for arguing with me! You have won congratulation.

I went to St. Xavier's. And the perception that its all for rich and preppy students is completely false. I come from an ordinary Nepalese family, I think I should stress that I am not from Kathmandu either. None of my friends have the attitude that KathCat is talking about. He is a bit bitter about St. Xavier's and its students.

And whoever said "typical villager's attitude" may want to rethink before posting such comment.

Like I mentioned in my post, I didnt mean to hurt anybody by saying that "villager's attitude". I apologize if it has become too harsh or offensive. kathCAT enraged me so badly that I merely lost my sense of judgement. No harsh feelings please.

I consider myself from village too. My grandparents migrated from village to kathmandu and I still have some properties in one rural village. kathCAT repeatedly massacred the name of xavier's. When I replied him for the first time, I was being meek. But, he disrespected  me and my fellow friends marking us as a human without brain.

kathCAT, it doesnt mean that you won the battle. You are one of those losers who hate themselves for not studying in the renowned schools. kathCAT dude, its ok..these schols are there for your kids. Lets not hope that I will see you in your two wheelers outside  the Xavier's gate dropping off your kid. Its all good now.

Thanks,
