Why is it that Nepalis are trying so hard to be black? All the silly finger signs. I mean you get the hip hop wanna be dress codes, the east coast/west coast signs. I know how little Nepalis think of black people. Yet, we try so hard to be black. I dont know if I am the only one that finds this very very ironic. On one hand, you want to wear the extra large t-shirts, baseball hats, jeans and jewelry, and on the other hand you call them Kale and look down on them... Why is it that every freaking photo that I see has fools posing with their gang signs. Just stick to what you know... put your two hands together and say Namaste... why such hypocrisy? If anything we should at least try to imitate a more successful race... like the Jewish... take off the baseball hat and put on the skull cap .. yarmulka!

I don't see a point why nepalese act like black. I was in Dallas party couple of months ago. I was there with my uncle and aunt from nepal. I saw bunch of nepalese dancing with HIP HOP. They were many nepalese brothers, i say about 5- 6, were wearing half paint which was slackening to the ground and were not on the belly. They were wearing xtra large tshirts and cap the other way around. Some of em seemed like holding the paints on the belly. My mom when back from the party asked me" ti nepali babu haru lay peti nalaga ka babu, kapada tala bhuima khasdai tandai gardai thiya '. I replied her aunty, they are nepali blacks.
This is for real friends.

I dont think the argument should be about how these people dress up, I mean we all try to follow the latest fashion trends..HOW MANY OF US GO AROUND PLACES WEARING A DAURA SURUWAL???? for teens the HIP HOP way of dressing up appeals to them and they think its cool..so i dont think there is anything wrong in copying the Blacks way of dressin' up...BUT if they try to copy all the violent and negative stuff then it is a matter of concern...
In short what i am trying to say is the youth should try inculcate in themselves all the positives from the Black culture...or for that matter from any culture..
It doesn't matter if a Nepali kid is wearing pants below his butt as long as he inspires to be the good athlete like the blacks and not a criminal like the blacks...

Identity matters to all humans. Hiphop culture is the black and way of expressing frustation; Like Germans wear black attire. I find ingenuity gap in Nepalese youth in this matter.

Back in 98 - 99 as a freshman in NYC, I was da same...DMX, Jay-Z were just out with their first BIG anthems (Ruff Ryders anthem and Hard Knock life) and Hip-hop was all about ghetto stylin in every detail. hahah Had to have my Timbs and ma hoodie all day. LOL I look at some of the photos from back then and I laugh at maself. I ain't no hood-rat and I defn didn't look like one, son. These days, am a lot sober. I stick to the Kanye/Pharrell style of GQing it up with hip-hop/undergound brand labels that have now gone mainstream (Bapes, BBC's, Evisu's, etc).

Change defintiely is the only constant!!

I agree with Samsara, we all had our moments, whether it was being hip hop, punk, 80's, hindi movie style etc.... My only complaint is, that kids these days are over doing it... I mean, the way they talk, the way they dress.... the nigga word they love to use... I am not saying, go wear Daura Surwal, at least dont look like a complete fool... because that is how you look when real black people look at you..

Yeah Sleepy…I've seen that shit happen all da tyme too. It'd be different if these kids were brought up here but most of these posers are kids who just got here from Nepal. These FOBs act all gangsta at parties with their fakeness and I tell em that they ain't been here for 3 years and they think they gots what it takes to be and act like a nigga. Friggin' wangstas. Be yourself fools. Yeah, emulate whatevaz gangsta on hip-hop videos to peeps you no nothing about, but when you do that in front of me, hell no…gotsa get outta ma face before I rip those pants hanging on your knees and make ya remove dat t-shirt and make it into a bed-sheet for some rural folks in Nepal.

Anybody who is hating the way nepalese people dressing up hiphop are torpe's from nepal..who aren't able to mix up well with black people and even jealous because they don't have the guts to do it.
I mean what's your problem with them wearing hiphop trendy wears...they do it cause they like it that way
If you wanna do it do it..not just hip hop..can be any..rock..gothic..whatever..any dressup..and don't care about what others are gonna say..
This is the only reason why we nepalese people can't progress..backbiting..freaking cowards..why can we be more tolerant? why do we always have to be cynical?

Danfe, dress however you like... I encourage Nepali's to mix... not to CHANGE... I dont mind people dressing up the way they do, I mean, obviously sometimes it does get ridiculous... What bothers me is when they change the way they walk, talk etc... I mean at the end of the day, other than the skin color, nothing is Nepali.. A lot of things bother me, the way we nepalis always group together, like its some freaking orgy... that bothers the hell out of me... its not a question of tolerance or even being judgmental... its just a matter of opinion... Danfe, where is your tolerance when you are bitching about people expressing their opinions.

I think some Nepalis wanna be black coz blacks are well hung and most Nepalese have tiny weeners. I am blessed with a mega bhaley so no need for me to wanna be noone.
