hi guys, i need help on this, I had applied for canadian residency and they have sent me a letter saying that i do not possess Proficiency in English Language. I have a 4 year degree from US and have been living in the US for last 8 years with 3 years of IT experience on h1b visa. Has anyone been asked this before? Some have advised me to write a detailed letter to them about this issue on why and how i think i have good proficiency in English. Any help? Please i was respond from the ones who have received such letters or who has seen someone go thru this. Reason being i dont want to go thru IELTS if there is a way around it.

Nirvana, When you fill up the application form, they ask you where you want the interview to be conducted. Whichever location you selected, the file will be transferred to that location. My primary date of filing was Nov 2005.

Folks, Have some patience, Before you can get an Interview date before landing or the Green card in your hand with in 8-9 months but after Sept 11 it takes atleast one year to get your file transferred to the location you requested. But its going to happen just have Patience. Nirvana, trust me you are not the only one fililing for canadian immigration and there are thousands and thousands applied and it will be in order they received the file. Also if your file is incomplete and if you have to sent something again and when they receive that document your file won't be on top. It will be momved to bottom of the pile and might take the same period of time. This is what I heard, I don't work for WWW.CIS.GC.CA

Nirvana, You check your application status online at the following link: https://services3.cic.gc.ca/ecas/security.do?app=ecas You must have your file # that was provided on your receipt letter. Check there....

Iam from Mid west. for your question regarding how did Sukulgunda knew that his file was transferred, There is the file number and there is the phone number for Canadian embassy in buffalo where you mail your form to call that number and when you get a chance to talk to live ask her the status of your file and He/she will tell you where it is and how it is. Peace

Sukul ji, its all matter of point, If your are able to reach 67 points without any proficiency in english,The law of of canada immigration states that you are eligible to get through. only thing is you dont claim points for english language thats all. Adding my wife to my application goes like this, if your wife is 11 or 12 years of education you get 3 points, and if she is graduated you will get 5 points. It all depends on individuals calculation. Nirvana, i had received my file number in november 2004 since then, i m preparing myself. thanks for your courtasy. Million dollers, Can u pls send the copy so i can inform other bros & sisters.
bemine_raj@hotmail.com Thanks, Raj

Nirvana, Sorry for the late response. I donot remember the exact date but it was sometime after I applied in June 2004. All together it took about 25 months to get my PR approved. Yes it is lengthy process I used to think until I met a person at Canadian Consulate in Buffalo who got it after three years even though his wife and kids were Canadian Citizens. But I also know that it took less then 18 months for one of my friends. I guess it all depends on the documents you have submitted and efficiency of the people looking at them at consulate. Good luck

Nirvana, I am not sure how this time frame works. They received my application on Nov 2005, and they transferred my file in Nov 2006. If you applied in July 2005, then you should contact the buffalo office. Looking at your PD your file should have been moved by now. Also, about the transfer, you also get a letter stating that your file has been transferred to NY office. Were you able to check status online?

Nirvana, Sorry to hear that. I never contacted them via phone or email. Indeed I never had to do that. But now, I have to contact NY office in a couple of days to change my address. I hope they will respond me. Did you also try to email them? Any one here to help Nirvana how to contact Buffalo office?
