A 23 year old +2 graduate just migrated to the US with a green card. His sole intention is to make money so he can support a family of 6 back home and is willing to work multiple jobs/80 hours a week if offered. What are some jobs that do not require higher college degree yet pay decent ?

If you have green card, you can fill out FAFSA, which can help you get financial aid.

(O: if anybody wanna work hard labor.. i have work in CT.. pays $8/hr..... cash (O: beside that Bachelors and Masters can rake in anywhere from 80K/yr to 100k/yr that is like 37/hr to 45/hr... .so if u compare even after tax... will be fAR ahead hoina ra...i mean compared to $8/hr

hahhaahah.. An avg income of person with bachelor degree is $40-45k year not $80k year..then again experience is factor. But what i am saying isif some is smart ,is skillful ,interprenuer..can make good amount in USA. instead of stuggling 9-5.

The main thing is if you have green card you don't need to work in low payrate... and you can find plenty of work outside with descent amount of money...i have seen some of my american freinds studying in college and working in construcion place starting from 20 to 30 dollar an hour..i don't know if nepalese can work...

thapap jyu, that is exactly what i wanted to tell our dear friend IMI. hehe. College grad are always better off than high school graduates. and btw, that calculation was based upon the stats which ImI provided. Yours stat is not bad either. but i will be more than surprised if the avg salary of college grads comes between 80-90K. Ke ho engineer saab, sabai hajur jasto EE major (tyo pani Phd aspirant) kahan hunchhan ra? :P :P Loote

College grads between 80 to 90 k...hmm you can find this kind of salary in engineering and MBA so far i know...but if you go to other side of biology,,only pharmacist can earn that much of money..otherwise if you do bachelor in biochem or microbiology just earn around 40 K a year....one need to have PHD degree..again if after getting PHD also if one can't find good job go for post doc just earn around 35 k a year until you find in industry with that amount o money....sad huh...

IMI, Sorry to say but you seriously need to go to college and learn some decent stuff before you continue to support your argument(if I may call it so) which is ill-supported. Things don't work for everyone. So, your "if" condition does not hold in real life. If one were "Gates", one can opt out of school and still be rich...so, don't make such stupid arguments. One has to reason and bring logical arguments rather than make a mistake and continue foolishly to support it. The difference in earnings between high school graduate and college graduate is significant. That is why so many reasearches have been done to find out the ways to increase enrolments in colleges. If you read newspapers or research papers, you should be aware of these facts....

My ifs and buts are not for lazy asses. When I gave you stats. Do you think I don’t know that you are going to do the math????? Well even after 25 years how much a person saves ($200-300k, that is gross not net?) Imagine this a person goes to bachelor in teaching middle school , the avg.salary after 5 years in college(not included loans) is$20/hr .Another high school grad who goes to become plumber or electrician in with 5 years experience makes $80/hr..You guys do the math now!!!!!!! The 8-5 jobs are safe way to go .Safe way to go do not always mean that you make more money!!!!!! Entrepreneurship pays in America!! The smart electrician of plumber can start his own business in 5 years employee 5 others? You do your bachelor in teaching, how many people do you employee. Not everybody do their B.S in aerospace engineering!!!!! Ok now, think this way, do you implement 20% of your knowledge that you learned in school at work? I am not kidding here .you go to school for different reasons. Like party...n serious note... for overall knowledge... Do you know that most of the so called engineers in your company above 35 years old do not even hold bachelor in Science. I am talking about my experiences!!!! And do you need bachelors in computer science to become good programmer???Or in any IT, I suppose!!!! But...I still want people to go to school:)

ImI, you seem to know the facts, but you put it together in most negative way possible. Hence, I understand that you're a pessimist. An avg college grad can save more than $200K/$300K with the benefits he/she can get(e.g. good health insurance policy), he/she can invest that amount to make more. But if we talk abt us nepalese, most people go a field of study that returns higher income. So I believe that an avg amt that a nepali college grad earns is more that what an american college grad would earn. Most americans are not so enthusiastic to go to school, as they can still earn some money to live an avg life. But we don't have option to do that, as we'll get ILLEGAL. I belive undergrad studies is valuable, esp in the US, as you'll have broader sense of knowledge of the world and of life, but, ofcourse if you do your hws well :)

We are talking about overall stuff!!! and the Earning difference in USA is not like difference in India or Nepal. The person without B.S can drive better car and have better house than with .Thats all i am saying which is not possible in Nepal.got my point!!I know exactly what i am saying!!! US has different social -economic structure than Nepal. Do you know?having a baby in USA costs half a million(overall)!!!!!!!think if u have two and i have one .i still save 200K than you.:)

It's your choice i guess....i'd prefer to have happier life with more 'lives' around me and be content with a stable job...Money doesn't buy happiness for me..ofcourse it fulfills basic needs of life...but there is more in life than money...

I agree with Imi..there are lots of peop le how are not college graduatesiif they get a permanent job in either as contractor,construction,plummer..or even call centre gives health insurance...thats why i was telling that even to see construction in government roads just earn 20 to 30 dollar in the beginnning..i was surprised.its more money ....if one goes to temporary job.one can get pleny of job with descent amount of money..but most of them suit for guys who don't want to study just work and earn money... But i think education is better...

I believe the ultimate goal is to be happy. It's upto you to decide what makes you happy and satisfied. I just hope people don't regret the path they choose. Most people don't want to have unstable life of a contractor, and don't want to fix bathrooms or be outside in heat/cold for construction. But again, it's your choice.
