I cannot understand why we love to hate India and Indians so much? India have been a little too oversmart in the past with sikkim and bhutan, but is that a reason enough to be judgmental about them?

If we look upon indians here in US, I find most of them very friendly and honest. In fact, one of my very best friends happen to be an Indian. There are certain things which I still don't like about them, but keeping those petty reasons apart, I don't see any major reason why we need to hate and diss them.

India are one of the fastest growing economies in the world at present with one of the oldest democracies as well, Nepal have a lot to learn from them in both respects.

I was once asked by an indian, "I have heard that you guyz hate us, is it true? Why so? " I did not have valid reasons to answer him.

Of course, there have been dubious acts by them in the past, like in the case of Tanakpur, but thanks to out own leaders. We know how are our own leaders, rite? Plus, if they try to act smart with us in the future (like they did with Sikkim and Bhutan) aren't we good enough by now to KICK their a$$?


So what's the point in hating them like hell????

There are somethings that are unavoidable such as Nepal being a landlocked country and we have to depend upon them on almost every aspect. Not only in Nepal, but even in US, we are relying upon them on so many things. When you don't have a legal way of working, you work for them under table may it be Restuarant, Groceries or a Gas Station. You rely on them to sponsor you for the Green card and H1s. I'm not saying that you don't have to work you butt off for them to have that done but you do need it. I think for these very reason, even though we like to hate indians, we should not.

I don't think it is good to generalize things and be biased toward the whole country and its citizens. Some of them are cunning and cruel and some of them are nice too. Not only Indians, I guess its same with any country's people or the entire human nature.

There are things mentioned in this thread earlier about Indians I hate. They think they are superior, they smell, never change the way of doing things - Ironed Jeans and Indian sport shoes (even when going to the parties), Indian women wear Kurta Surwal with sport shoes and long chinese Jackets to the mall and even to work sometimes, they are the "dorpok" amongst all, and the list goes on and on. But, at the same time they are great scholars, smart enterprenuers too.

I think its just that they are extreme on both sides - negetive and postive.

We nepali tend to look down upon the few indians who do not know how to dress yadayaday..

Look The person who irons the jeans , can make more money than you. they have more brain than you.
And ya you think nepalese are the most civilized people in the world .That is why we are fighting for communist republic back home.That is why we are 400 years behind the world .India one of the super powers and Nepal is the poorest country in the world.

maybe it is the similarity between us that makes us uncomfortable. maybe that is the case. we feel like our identity is in jeopardy

this is b4 we became bahadur in hindi movies
the story goes back to before independence of india from british
bp koirala was active participant in india's bharat chhodo andolan against the british
later he was directly involved in revolt against the ranas
after a while his hope was to free nepal from ranas before the british left india
of course it didnt happen
then india got independence
it got partitioned
and of course jawarlal nehru became prime minister and gandhi was long dead
luckily bp was promonent figure in nepali politics too
then came the infamous nehrus declaration during one of his speech where he claimed india's border spreads from the top of the everest( our mount everest) to the ocean, of course indian ocean
BP objected to this speech and asked indian government to issue an apology or at least correct the content of the speech of this much of historical importance
obviously india declined
this was right around the time when nepal became first country in the world to recognize isreal as an independent state and in solidarity isreal decided to have saturday as their national holiday too
then came the south block and freaking 50 years of congress I's rule in india and they drove it down to the ground
it was during this time we nepali became gurkhas in the armyo demoted to bahadur darban of some complex in india
Congress I never recognized nepal as equal democratic force in that part of the world and started acting like the big bro
then came mahendras take over of government and all the rest is history

why am i telling this boring story
its boring i know but i truly believ in the last 50 years this little known fact about history has been assimilated into our psyche and history as only form of ratinal explaination passed down through generation albeit semi conciously that program nepalis to hate indians
just for the fact, i have indian friends, very good friend and i love them but i still hate india not indians though

Why so much hate for the dhotis??

- Because our innocent women and children are sold and kept in indian brothels for human flesh slavery.

- Because our lands are flooded by damn indian dams.

- Because our water ways and hydro resources are being exploited by India.

- Because our leaders (from the revolutionaries to the democrats) behave like indian pet dogs by obeying commands to sit down and get up.

- Because the way Nepalis and indians of Nepali origin are treated and stereotyped in india.

- Most of all, the core hatred comes because the curry smelling, greasy hair, dress pants with tennishoe wearing, ugliest looking creatures come to Nepal as "tourists" and still act like they are in their own bihari land which gives them the right to do and say whatever they want.

P.S. And all you wanna be liberal thinking nepalis....forget about spreading the "love" with these two neighbors. Israeli Palestiniani hatred aint nothing compare to this.....this is far more internalized and for Nepalis it has become a part of their national identity!
