I dont know about the superiority and inferiority but I do believe t hat the caste system is a major problem that exists in the people of today (and yesterday). I dont know why it makes you any different just because you were born in a different family. If a child born in a bahun family is reared in a shudra or whatever family what will the kid be? Moneyminded you've proved that you are one of the people I am talking about, after reading your comments on the other thread. All I'm saying is that it's not good to believe that you're a superior human being than others because of your birth.

In a modern era like today, we are still so backwards that instead of believing we are all Nepalis, some of us would like to believe that people from lower caste are inferior to us and treat them with contempt. The lower class will obviously not like that and try to voice against such treatment.

You cannot blame them for not enjoying being treated like some lower class of human beings. You cannot blame them for segregating themselves and not being fond of the upper two castes who have suppressed them for centuries. We need to look at the root of the problem and not the result of the problems.

The root of the problem lies in these two castes believing they are superior to the others and mistreating the others like they are not even human beings. Like for instance

- One non Kshetriya/non bahun went to a marriage ceremony of one of his friends, and the family didn't allow him to be there in the sacred ceremony

- One non Kshetriya/non bahun went to a funeral ceremony of his friend, and the relatives asked him to not be there

- One non Kshetriya/non bahun was beaten up for touching a K/B while they doing brata

Since the very beginning of this thread I've been repeating that this is not about ALL KSHETRIYA AND BRAHMANS, but some of them who really believe that the other castes are lower class than them. I understand that if you are one of these people then you will vehemently try to deny the issue or try to make a totally different issue out of it, because in the hearts of heart you know that you are one of them and that you are a bigot.

History and past is to blame, but when such things happen in scattered incidents even now, we know that the feeling of caste discrimination is etched in some peoples mind and hearts. This is what we need to abolish. It is wrong for you to believe that your caste is better than other caste.

Cryptonite, you are right to say that this division of castism was started by the rulers who happened to be Brahmin and chhetri. It was good thing to do that time so that people did their own job according to their class BUT it is unfortunate that it is ON even in this age.

Since you are seeking the way to solve this problem, before finding the solution to the problem, you have to first recognize the problems. I have listed some below:
1. Hinduism is based on castism which was started by Brahmin & Chhetri who came from India.
2. Monarchism is built in Hindu principles (as he calls himself the incarnation of Bishnu). When you have Mafia god (Gyane), what will happen to the devotees.
3. We are one of the poorest country in the world where Luxmi (goddesh of Money is worshipped).
4. We are 174th corrupted nation in the world where 33 Million (33 Koti) gods are worshipped. Where is the morality?
5. When two giant neighbors (India & China) are competing to be the greatest nation in the world, we are going backward to 16th century along with Gyane. We cannot even simply copy some good things from them to keep ourself update with 21st century. China is communist nation and India is a secular state.

So the problem is not Brahmin or Chhetri or any other casts, the MAIN PROBLEM IS HINDUISM AND ITS TEACHING. So deal with it.

you're making sense. Religion has divided us. There are good things and bad things in religion and we have to get rid of bad things such as this division which probably was important during ancient ages in order to get some sort of order, having a leader/ruler be in command.

But in todays world, where education and science have shown us that we are all human beings, caste system is just ancient. But it is sad to see that some of us still want to believe in it so as to feel a greater purpose but sadly in doing so we are being discriminatory and unfair to other groups.

By the way my father is kshetriya and mother is from newar caste. I have never been discriminated against, but I have seen some people who have been and I don't think it is right. Thats why i want to discuss about this issue. This discussion is not about inferiority complex. It is about some people who have superiority complex as handed down through religious and social dictates.

You might argue that some people might not feel superior if other people did not feel inferior. Think of it as a spectrum where there are some smack in the middle. That is where I belong. You might be in either end of the spectrum trying to deny the truth.

The problem of caste system is entwined with the existence of monarchy. As long as there will be some people who enjoy special privileges they and their relatives will always feel and act superior to others. Hindu religion itself has less problems. I hear about many intercast marriages than back in the days. But this happens less in the shah/ rana communities.

Another problem is the pundit bajes. These pundits are not what their ancestors used to be. Most of them have become bajes without understanding the meaning and significance of the mantras. So, something has to be done to get rid of this dakshina exchange tradition. In that sense, the practice of hindu religion is in need of revision if it is to survive for a long time.

So, as long as monarchy and the fake pujaris exist so will the caste system.

I am not in denial about it. I am more aware of the problem than you will ever be. These are sensitive issues. We have certain negativities in our society. To correct these problems, the negativities have to be erased.
