PRESS RELEASE I, Gagan Kumar Thapa, in my capacity as a former general secretary of Nepali student wing affiliated to the Nepali Congress deeply condemned the move of King Gyanendra who has assumed the absolute power on the 1st of February, 2005 at 10.25 a.m. (Nepali time) through his royal proclamation. He has suspended all the democratic rights and values of the constitution of 1990 that has been materialise by the people of Nepal by laying their precious life. He has further put the leaders of all the political parties in the house arrest and has captured the young leaders and sent them to the army barracks. We don't know about their status. The media has been put into strictest survelliance by the security forces. My life is under severe threat as I have been advocating for the Republic set-up in the Himalayan Kingdom of Nepal. So far I am safe and sound. But anything can happen with my life. My free movement has been curtailed. My family members are simultaneously receiving the threats and are passing through a mental trauma from the security personnel. I hereby, call upon the international media, humanrights organisations, United Nations, and all the peace and freedom lover people and governments of the world to act quickly upon a highly deteriorating human rights violation that is taking place in Nepal. Since the communication has been cut-off and the emergency been imposed since the royal proclamation, we know nothing about the whereabouts of many democratic political leaders and their status. Many of them are believed to be killed by the security forces. I would like to thank everyone helping us to fight against the authoritarian rule that has disguised itself in the name of democracy and human rights. Sincerely, Gagan Kumar. Thapa Former-General Secretary, Nepal Student (Affiliated to the Nepali Congress). Name of the key leaders, human rights activists and social activist missing in Nepal. 1. Narhari Acharya (Nepali Congress) 2. Kundan Kafle (Student leader- affiliated with the Nepali Congress) 3. Pradeep Nepal ( leader of the CPN-UML) 4. Roop Narayan Shrestha (student leader of the CPN- UML) 5. Khagendra Sangraula ( Social activist) 6. Kishor Singh Rathor (Student leader of the Nepali Congress Democratic) Some of the leaders who have been put into house Arrest 1. Girija Pd. Koirala ( Senior leader & President of the Nepali Congress) 2. Madhav Kr. Nepal (Senior leader & Secretary of CPN UML) 3. Pashupati Shamsher (Senior leader & President of the Rastriya Prajatantra Party) 4. Daman Nath Dhungana ( Former Speaker of the house of representatives and presently a human-rights activist). Mr. Gagan, As all of the above, I really do not feel any sympathy toward your situation. You should have thought of this while you were a student at Trichandra College. With such indignities and corruption institutionalized in college levels, did you not ever ask yourself if you were going to face this situation today? If you didn?t, you really must be stupid! If you were a good politician you would have known better than to burn chairs, stop professors from teaching and conducting various activities to hinder education systems to produce qualified students. I personally don't think any human rights organization should even consider any of your appeal. You and your friends should have just studied and let the university educate the students as normal students at normal colleges are supposed to. Now that you have come to realize that you have not only jeopardized your own, but your family's lives, maybe it is time to reflect back to all the other students and their families that went through your organization?s atrocities.

Did Girija go to the Indian Embassy for asylum? How did his taped message come out ? He sounds like one of those terrorists now who is in the run.

I wonder why in Nepal there has be so called student leaders from various political parties wandering amongst the students in colleges and universities ? Are students that dumb enough that these guys feel the need to have their presence amongst students in various colleges and universitites. During my college years in the US just two years ago I never saw anything like suppose for example "Edward Bennings, the leader of student wing of Republican Party" or "Howard Jones, the leader of the student of the Democratic Party" Unfortunately the Maoists copied the same thing from those jerks like NC, UML and RPP.

Here's one to you - mr. Gagan - you were stupid then and more stupid now. First and foremost you were hustling in T.C. for more than a decade without any proper outcome. You were given a chance but you had to blow it along with your senior backstabbing vultures. People loved you back then but you couldn't be a true leader and have all your masses behind you. Now you are wondering why your own people are turning on you coz you don't know where you fall in the category - your leaders don't know you - government don't want you - and all the public just despise you. Its simple. Jump in the current bandwagon and help this government help its people before we all fall behind some other country's occupation - can you see that coming - you should - coz I can sense it. Last but not least - you were a bitch then - and you are a bitch now. So shut the hell up and let those mofo netas die - or you'll be next in line. Y'all good for nothing and you've proved it in last ten years. Holla!

Where is Gagan anyway ? Thats damn right Aarav, it was not just Paras - there were plenty of others like him- Gangan, Roop Narayan Shrestha, Kishor Singh Rathor. Paras ko Gaijatra was all over the news, but what about these guys. Nevertheless these guys were HERO - no matter how chaotic situation in Colleges they had brought. I have plenty of evidence. Because of these ppl future of majority of students were in stake. At least Paras was not around TC and ASCOL to spoil students' future. He had dealt with his own circle. Anyway I pray for Gagan's safety, Pashupati nath le rakchya garun timro. I praying for sake of your parents. Paras-ism of Kishor Singh Rathor: It was year 1999 or 2000 - Nepali congress was in government. One evening Rathor appeared at "NAN PASAL" located at Gairidhara with bunch of his Chamcha. Within an hour and half those guys were drunk. They were ruling as if that place was owned by their dad. In the mean time, Rathor got off from the place he was sitting; and headed towards FURNANCE (where Nan and Sekuwas are roasted), he unzipped his pant start peeing infront of everybody right over Furnance. The owner of NAN pasal sincerely requested him not to do so. In no time he started beating resturant owner - couple of guys from resturant tried to put him aside, but all of his friend beated their ass off. Then they left. Days later Rathor and his friend took resturant owner and one of the guy from resturant to Baluwatar and beat them like crazy until they were hospitalized. Resturant owner file complaint on police but ultimately the owner and the guy from resturant were ended up in Jail. The owner was released within couple of days and he wanted to run NAN PASAL again, but the was threating that under any circumstances if that PASAL was open again would be burnt down. There after that Pasal was closed for 2 months. Finally the owner had to appeal and apologize just to run his living. What is so good about these guys over Paras. Now at least NAN Pasale and his kind doesnt have to worry about Political-thug.

Hey FReek! thank for ur comment. i love my freedom and dont want to lose it at any cost either.. but now for some reason i have to .. just get rid of maoist problem and least there should be peace and safety... i know you are not in nepal now.. so do i.. but our parents and all our well wishers and frens.. better say our heart is there.. we care for nepal where ever we go... and about paras... lets not make issue now.. let the king establish a good system.. and this is 21 centrury... i dont think anyone can rape our freedom... for a long time.. i hope you can sense where i am going now.. king G could be temporary solution for now.. but at least its look like a solution.. coz if you see 14 years history.. you wont see any solution.. and Freek! its good you are writing... keep it up....

Democracy hudaa ko HERO student leaders now spendingtime in some musa(mouse) ko dulo (like Saddam Hussien in his musa ko dulo). Lets hope Ganendra finds and takes care of these guys in some cities of Nepal. Probably the Maoists will take care of them if they ever come to villages.

niksnpl dude If you are so concerned about Nepal then why dont you take a bold step of going and shouting at Ganendra to reverse his decision infront of his darbar at Darbarmarg. I'll really admire you if you can really do that. goodluck for your mission.

With the cooperation between Ganendra's Military,Police and the Maoist, people can definately get rid of suc**r leaders like Gagan. Of course this a very rare opportunity .The Maoist couldnt do much to guys like Gagan because they very rarely ventured outside major citites and Maoist had limited striking capabilities inside major cities. But now with all fundmental democratic suspended in Ganendra's area of control, his Army and police can pull out guys like Gagan from their "musa ko dulo" wih much ease.

I read the press release of Gagan Thapa and am really concerned about his and everyone's situation in Nepal. In most of the comments posted in this coloumn, i found that these people ( who are outside Nepal, esp. in US) have no sense of humanity at all. They seemed to be without common sense. It's not the concern about the threat over any one person. It's the concern about the system that is going to affect everyone, including the relatives of those who are laughing senselessly after reading Gagan thapa's press release. I am sure you will not be laughing when one memeber of your family is found to be missing. Guys, this is not a joke. In the situation when every rights and laws are suspended, Security personals can do anything they want. And i have no doubt that these Bhede Security personal will do whatever they want. So, just don't laugh at other's misery. It may finally come to you and you don't want anyone to laugh at your situation.!! Better give voice in favor of basic rights.... -Nepal Premi
