Here are some of the stocks that showed up on my buy scan. We may have seen the low but it is possible that we see one more sell-off to wash the weak hands. Currently I am doing intraday trades from the long side only. If S&P closes below 800, I'll stay on the sidelines.
If the market goes up from here these stocks should easily double. The holding period is at least 1 year (if profitable). Put these stocks on your watch list and when you see a pattern as described on the follwing link, you can buy. ALWAYS use stop losses. Stops should be somewhere between the low of the cup and low of the handle. This pattern is described in detail in William O Neil's book, "How to make money in stocks". You can probably get it from your local library or buy one...it is worth the money. If you are patient and wait for the right time you should do pretty good at the end.
If you find other stocks that have a similar pattern, please post it here.

I won't have time to post everyday but will try to answer any questions on weekends.
Thanks for all the emails.
Happy Investing.

Hello folks, Been a few weeks I haven't traded anything in the market. I am still Bearish in the long term but some of you might have noticed a bullish Pennant on the xlf and I wanted to point that out to the rest of the folks. I have stayed away from the Financials since April but the chart is telling me that we might be headed higher in the short term. If you look at the chart of the XLF below, you will notice that after we hit 13, we have been going back and forth with lower highs and higher lows. Since we are in a short term bull market, this type of pattern will eventually lead to a breakout, most likely to the upside. On the last 10 mins on Friday, we saw a massive rally and breakout of the resistance of the downward sloping Pennant edge. If we do get a confirmation (that is another hourly candle closing above 12.20) of the breakout on Monday, I will be buying a 1/3 position on the XLF @ 12.50. Depending on the momentum, I might go for the FAS, which gives triple the gain (and the loss) of the XLF. My target is 14.00 but I will unload some at 13.50. Also, I haven't put the daily chart here, but the XLF is going to hit the 200 Moving Average at 13.00 on the daily chart. That is a major resistance. Watch that level carefully. Disclaimer: This trade is for day or swing traders. For those of you buying and holding for more than a week, I would not suggest to buy this. If you want to learn more about the Pennant Pattern, here is the link: http://www.investopedia.com/university/charts/charts6.aspPeace, FF.

After promising futures data, bought FAS at 10.30 in pre-market. Stop at 9.00. Will buy some FAS if XLF hits 12.50. FF

Another stock I might buy today: REXX. I have been following it for some time, after Riten pointed it out in one of the posts. I had identified the inverted H&S pattern and you can see that it played out beautifully. After the breakout of the neckline the stock rallied close to 20% and it did fall drastically but look at how the 20-day Moving average and the neckline provided support. I was going to buy it at that point but got scared because of the stock's volatility. Anyways, now I noticed that REXX closed above the 200-Moving Average for two days (which is a very bullish sign) and looking at the momentum today, I will buy if the stock hits 7.00. There will be some resistance at 7.40 (yellow line) and if we cross that, the next level is probably 9.20-9.50 (which I haven't drawn yet). Peace, FF.

FF, I'm glad you looked into REXX. I initially bought it back when it was at $3.33 but sold it at $5.71 fearing that it might have reached a lull. Mistake. It continued climbing. So, I bit the bullet and rebought it at $6.85 and am happy for doing so because it is at $7.43. When do you think I should sell it? Don't want the greed to cloud my judgement, y'know. Thanks.

Riten, I bought REXX at 7.00 and 7.10. Like I said, we are getting some resistance at 7.40. I would really like this stock to close above 7.50 today. If that happens, then the next level is most likely 9.00. I will hold it till 9 then I might sell some to take quick profit. On the other hand, if the stock goes below 6.50, then the 200 MA can push it down further. FF

Riten, FF, This market is very strong. Take losses quickly and profits slowly. If you buy at the right time----as a break-out is happening from a base you should be patient. Unless you trade for a living DO NOT buy and sell frequently. http://nepalitrader.blogspot.com/

Thanks FF and Eminitrader. FF, btw, forgive my ignorance but what is 200 MA? Financial lingos are all greek to me, I don't have enough brain power. Should've applied to NYU Stern when I had time, eh? Most of my stocks are doing well.... today, dunno what will happen tomorrow. Let's talk AAPL. I am happy with Apple. I bought it back when it was 125. I believe this is a sure shot money maker, at least while Steve Jobs is alive and kicking. Plus they are coming out with new iPhone with new OS. That should definitely give its stock price a major boost. In addition, AT&T's contract with Apple over iPhone is coming to an end later this year. With Verizon strongly pursuing the coveted iPhone license, I gotta believe that Apple will be the winner, one way or the other. Furthermore, I just have to admire their business model with iTunes. Cash cow right there. The gross profit and net income look good, quarter after quarter. I love it!

What the hell is happening to FAZ. It is so volatile. It evaporates and condenses unpredictably in very short period of time.

AH drop was because of that guy from Street.com, who has a habit of publishing negative stories about companies..and he seems to be always wrong..I looked at his article and he was wrong on VANDA, he did the same thing on HEB, he will be wrong on that too, and he is wrong again, btw a guy with political science backroungd doesn't know enough about the breakthrough in this cancer treatmenet that CTIC is doing..This was the highlight of that conference that was held in London this week and I do beleive after looking at the data, it is poised for a FDA approval..the business that would get in this drug if it is to get approved is in billions so it is very promising. there will be ppl who will sell tomorrow after all it has made some huge profit over the last month or so but I will hold it for a while....Btw i just saw a press release from CTIC company criticizing that guy's article so it should bring some clamness to CTIC investors..

Database...... FEED's target is somewhere around 10-12. Once it closes above 12 on a weekly chart, then buy at 12 for the next ride up..... PS. I saw your response regarding GM stocks on another thread.....and that deserves a gold star.
